Not this, then I wouldn't be able to go. I really want the band to minimize weeknight shows. That way, the band is rested and I can do more shows. Example, STL show tomorrow. Can't go because I, and I'm sure many others as well, can't afford to travel during the week.

If and that's a huge if this rumor is true wouldn't that mean there will be other fall US shows? It makes absolutely no sense to just play a random show in Chicago

Nothing's random about a small one week or so gap in the Summer Tour.

Doesn't it make sense that this rumor is going to pan out considering the band didn't go to Chicago during the summer tour or is Chicago not usually a guaranteed stop considering it's close to Alpine and Deer Creek?

Chicago has gotten a tour stop every year since '95 except for 2012. Even though a lot of the Chicago crowd goes to Alpine, they still almost always do a stop in the proper Chicago area as well.

I think we've all been assuming a 2 night stand, which has made things difficult for scheduling, but it could very well just be a one nighter. Other than Wrigley in 2010, most of the Chicago stops have been single night shows in the past. They could play Friday night the 13th and not interfere with the football games at Soldier Field over the weekend.

I found this in an article I was perusing about the smaller number of concerts at Alpine Valley:

When the Dave Matthews Band, once a regular at Alpine Valley, plays Chicago, standard contracts prohibit the band from playing anywhere else within 100 miles, Pruessing said. ... The prohibition can last 60 days before and after he plays, Pruessing said. “You don’t want a band to saturate the market,” she said.

This explains the delay in announcing Chicago shows lately.

that seems dead on since 2010. i think before that tinley was announced with the regular dates in 2009 but tinley happened 60 days or so after alpine. the years prior were announced with the regular dates also but seems like they tried to keep the 60 day span from 2006-2008

That 60 day/100 mile rule seems to be the norm now. look at the chicago caravan they couldnt announce the acts that played at summer camp until the festival was over.

i just hope for one more show this year!

If you call that a show....that set was abysmal. So glad I went last night as UC was my last show and the awful taste in my mouth has been there since December lol

Very true. In 49 shows that UC show was probably the most disappointing DMB show I've seen. Between the shitty acoustics, Dave being sick, and weak setlist the entire night was a letdown. And I am someone who typically has a great time at just about any DMB show, even when the set is less than stellar, but that show was just a snooze.

And I paid a ton for those tickets. WH shitted on me for the Winter Tour, so I bought two tickets to the UC show off someone for 350$ for the pair to get lower seats, thinking it was going to be an awesome show, then it was god awful

It was actually announced before. Maybe the email didn't go out but it was advertised. If it doesn't get announced by the end if next week it's almost 100% not happening. I've already given up honestly

AntsMarching homepage "announced" Wrigley on Friday July 2nd. Alpine was July 3-4. Just as they said at the time "It might not be the worst kept tour secret ever, but it's up there. According to The Warehouse, Dave Matthews Band will indeed be playing Wrigley Field in September."

This Meigs Field/Northerly Island rumor doesn't seem as substantial as Wrigley - a what, two year "this is gonna be the year" sure thing. But Wrigley was going to happen and we all knew. Too much had to be OK'd before the official green light. Northerly has apparently been re-worked to a "major venue" seating wise and needs much less if any discussion that Wrigley brings. So has DMB been in Illinois this year? Ya, ya Alpine is Chicago...well every year it's an extension of Chicago and they play Chicagoland.

We know there is a window in September. We know there have been rumors.

What's the hold up? I'm hoping for official word any day now. Shit, if not in the next couple weeks it obviously not going to happening.

FWIW... Our beloved friend Brenny is "claiming" Dave is doing a acoustic show the same day as the potential Chicago shows.... yet I have yet to ONCE hear of the actual rumor dates of the Chicago show...
