Re: Official Television Thread v2.0

How's this season of Tyrant? I watched the first two episodes and now I've just fallen way behind.

Sounds good, I definitely plan on watching more, just didn't have time after the first ep

I'll say this in here and not specifically in The Night Of thread cause I don't want to get accidentally spoiled... I haven't watched it yet but have every intention of doing so (once I missed the first couple, decided I'd wait and binge it out) but just wanted to say I noticed in a tweet from someone today, this series has obviously been in development a long time. Because there exists a previous version of the pilot episode that was fully shot with James Gandolfini, although I don't know exactly in which role, maybe Turturro's? but I guess it's not exactly out there for many people to see.

kinda reminds me how HBO was I think at least in the process of shooting the first episode of "Happyish" with Phillip Seymour Hoffman for a full series, before he died.

    random in-thread poll question...

What would you say is the best (current) show you're still not watching?

based on everything I've heard, I'm gonna go with The Knick. I actually do vaguely recall watching at least some of the pilot not long after it first aired, but then just never made my way back for more. but it's on the list (which seems to get nothing but longer all the time )

though, for the hell of it, every current show I AM watching (counting Netflix and things that are offseason right now)

    Agents Of Shield
    Archer
    Better Call Saul
    Billions
    Black Mirror
    The Blacklist
    Bojack Horseman
Broad City (caveat: I've only just recently started, still not done s1)
    Daredevil
    Doctor Who
    Game Of Thrones
    Halt & Catch Fire
    House Of Cards
    Jessica Jones
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
    The Leftovers
    Master Of None
    Mr Robot
    Orange Is The New Black
Orphan Black (though I've admittedly gotten stalled with this one, still haven't quite finished s3)
    Real Time With Bill Maher
    Roadies
    Robot Chicken
Shameless (well, I am fully caught up now, but it's fallen off such a cliff, still don't know if I'll keep bothering)
    Sherlock
    Silicon Valley
    Stranger Things
    Veep
Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp

and as I've said before, I am absolutely done keeping up with Walking Dead weekly. The best it'll get out of me anymore is a binge at mid-season IF I hear enough good things. I gave up on Modern Family at least 2 full seasons back now, and doubting I'll ever bother rejoining.

Highlighted are all great TV. Broad City only gets better.

You think Shameless fell off a cliff? I think its near the best its been, its so intense right now.

I think Mr. Robot is about the only show I'm not watching that I probably would really like that I've heard nothing but good things about.

I keep meaning to get into it just haven't yet.

I did not care for the first season at all. Second season was better, because another character got a lot more time, but it's still not that great.

They gave the wrong character the spin off.

I've voiced my dislike for spinoffs in here before. just would rather actually watch breaking bad

finally got to the midpoint of stranger things and it is actually picking up nicely. was hesitant for the first 3 or so episodes

I've enjoyed Black Sails. It gets no love here and I don't know anyone that watches it. It's upcoming 4th season will be it's last. Some fantastic ship battle scenes.

Best show according to what I've heard that I don't watch is Daredevil or Jessica Jones. Also haven't finished The Man in the High Castle

I've watched almost everything else that I've heard is really good.

I kept hearing about it so I broke down and watched it. It was enjoyable. Definitely has the binge-factor. I don't know about the highest praise everyone is giving it but I definitely enjoyed it and am looking forward to more.

It's just VERY reminiscent of awesome 80s movies:

    ET
    Goonies
    Poltergeist
    etc

So if you are a fan of those movies, you will enjoy yourself.

Mindhunter (Netflix) was filming down the street this evening, so my son and I walked down to watch it (he was more into heading out to catch Pokemon). Pretty interesting to watch them film! I'll definitely watch it to at least see the scene we were watching.
