how many eps... 10? 13?

because I've already missed what, I think like 6 it's up to now. I mean I'd been kinda curious about this thing even before the pilot aired, it was just so cool then to hear all you singing its praises. But if I'm a solid 6 deep, I probably will just wait now and binge.

Amazing show, still can't believe its on USA. Rami Malek is INCREDIBLE.

Apparently it was originally a movie script that got too long so they turned it into a series.

That's interesting because I was remarking today that I'm not sure how long they could keep this going and that it felt like it would make a good movie.

Tyrell Wellick (played perfectly by Martin Wallstrom) is the most captivating character for me. He steals every scene he's in. He's basically a completely apathetic version of Elliot, who has more humanity in him than he likes to let on.

last episode was great

I'm in and out of liking tyrell. I think they made a few mistakes in how ridiculous he acts, take out only one or two and he'd be a great character

I think Tyrell is way too over the top as a character.

The rest of the show feels somewhat grounded, and then we have freaking Patrick Bateman.

Shit finally hit the fan. I'm not necessarily surprised at how we got from point A to point B, but I wasn't expecting the detour that gave us the reveal about Darlene.

So my coworker and I have been arguing about how much of this show is an homage to Fight Club, and how much it is a rip off.

Music in the last scene has me leaning toward the latter.

I love how tyrell walks into the office with straight up black circles around his eyes and no one cares

gives you the impression that he isn't really as subtle as he thinks he is

With the season finale on Wednesday, I figured that was a small enough time frame to start the show without there being too much of a wait in case I'm all caught up by Wednesday night. So I just watched the pilot - can make a really strong case for being the best pilot I've ever seen. Sucked in from the opening scene. God damn, that was good.

I watched the pilot on Sunday also, along with the next 6 episodes. Finished episode 8 and 9 last night. Show is so damn good.

I think it's definitely more of an homage than a ripoff. It's definitely got a similar tone and it's an obvious comparison from a storytelling device perspective, but I think it really stands on its own too. And overall I think it's clear the show is going for something different than what Fight Club does. Just my opinion.

He steals every scene he's in. He's basically a completely apathetic version of Elliot, who has more humanity in him than he likes to let on. One concern: Wellick knows that Elliot framed Colby. If fSociety were to complete their takedown of Steel Mountain, it would seemingly be pretty easy for Wellick to connect the dots that Elliot was somehow involved given their random run-in at the facility. I guess it's a moot point for now though since the Dark Army has backed out. At some point though, fSociety is going to follow through with it, and Wellick should recognize that this is just another instance of Elliot seeking revenge ("how ordinary") against Evil Corp.
