This happened to my husband and me. We were out at a really nice restaurant in the mountains with his friend and his wife who were from another state (I'll just say it neighbors CO and doesn't have much going on) and they ordered.. Bud Light. BIG list of CO microbrews and imports in front of them and they go with Bud Light. Now, American piss water has it's time and place, but c'mon. Step outside the comfort zone, you know?

Depending on my mood here are the ones I usually choose from:

    Bass
    Guiness
    Blue Moon/Upland Wheat/312 (Wheat Beers)
Peroni (usually when out to dinner)

    I know, right?

I was a server at a fancy Italian restaurant during college and people would order White Zin all the time. So what I'd do is leave the table and instead of brining WZ, I'd bring them a taste of a different sweet white wine. They were only ordering WZ because they don't know anything else. 9 out of 10 times they'd order the other wine, pay more money, and thank me for it because I opened their eyes.

When I go to restaurants and they have a beer that I've never tried, I will always try it. If I have a choice, I rarely order the same thing over and over again unless I need something I am comfortable with for whatever reason.

When Im in Massachusetts, I go for the local brews, like Berkshire, Amherst, and Opa Opa. I like just about everything they do.

In New Zealand I prefer Epic pale ale and Dux Brewery's Nor'wester.

That's the great thing about going to new places. When in Rome, right? My husband is BIG into local breweries. Every new place we go he has to seek out the local flavors, which means all of our glasses are beer glasses

And when I first started getting into wines and didn't know what to order I always appreciated the server's input and I was never disappointed when the recommended or offered samples.

Something else I would do is refuse when they'd order something like Spaghetti or Chicken Parm. Because come on.. you can go to fazolis and get that or make it at home with little effort. I'd tell them that and say "I'll be back again in about two minutes. Feel free to ask any questions about something you don't recognize." Believe it or not, I never had a bad reaction to it. You can get away with anything as long as you present it the right way and smile.

PBR, could drink this all day, everyday

I do miss when I was going to Ball State, there was a place called Muncie Liquors and you could mix and match a 6 pack with anything you wanted for a very resonable price. I would do that all the time. A great and cheap way to try a lot of different beers

Trader Joes does that. Hell, we even have a Marsh where you can do that.

I haven't found a place here in Indy that does it. Need to get out and look at some different places.

Nothing like sitting down and drinking 6 different kinds of beer and finding that needle in a hay stack that you have never heard of before.

Wait, are you serious? Do you enjoy Schlitz, too?

All my friends give me shit for drinking it, but I freaking love it. No to Schlitz.

The bad thing about it is that not a lot of bars around here carry PBR so i generally have to go Bud Heavy

the beer snobs are out in force for sure!

OK snobs, I need a recommendation. I want someting I can have 3 or 4 of and not feel like there is a 50 lbs bag in my stomach. Something light, but earthy and full flavored at the same time.

    thank you.

Beer that I have on a consistent basis: fat tire, just about anything that full sail puts out, dead guy ale, and coors light if i don't have much money.

Beer that I've had little of but are my favorites: La Fin Du Monde, DFH 90 minute IPA, and Duvel.

Long Trail should be pretty common. I'd say see if you can make your own six pack at your local liquor store or pick up a mix 12 pack.
