Re: 2014 Camden Thread

So I have a free place to stay about 90 mins away from Camden. I am willing to make this drive after both shows to save money on hotel costs. My question: will my car be ok in the parking lot at the venue? If the answer is no, can I park on the Philly side and ferry over still? Should I just spend the cash and get a hotel? Don't mean to sound like a nervous old man, but I've heard horror stories about this place, and I know nothing about the area.

Yes, your car will be fine. Lots of police and crowds in the area. You just don't want to wander into Camden. But the lots etc around the venue are fine (unless you hang out until 3am haha)

I park there every year. Never have any problems.

I have a feeling this will be the case in lots of venues, esp camden and gorge. (no alpine i bet increases demand there)

You'll be fine. If you park in the venue lot, no issues. Don't park in the Campbell's lot. Bunch of teenagers with balloons. Once had a guy who claimed he just got out of jail get into the back seat of my car. Only real issue I had there. Otherwise you'll be fine!

If you happen to get forced into the Campbell's lot (sometimes you end up not having much choice) I've never had a problem there either and have parked there several years. Maybe a little bit of a younger more obnoxious crowd.... but there are lots of people there and it's safe. Longer walk to and from the venue but not ridiculous and the walk is well populated. Never felt unsafe at all.

Camden has been my home venue since I enrolled at Villanova University in 2006. I've been making the trek down from NYC the past 3 years just because I feel a connection with the band at this venue. Can't wait for the acoustic and electric!

As part of the Hershey faithful, I am looking for a new venue for this summer's tour. Camden is our choice, but I need a recommendation. I'm putting in a Warehouse request for tickets and was wondering: should I try for GA PIT or reserved seating? Better show experience/sound?

    Thanks!

Any of you feel the warehouse is worth it to get goods seats???

I'd recommend requesting reserved. Traditionally the pit has been oversold since it became GA and it gets uncomfortably crowded in there. I personally have never sat GA pit in Camden but have heard horror stories and I'm sure some others in here can shed some light.

On another note, I just put it together that no Hershey and no Scranton could lead to a much bigger influx in Camden. I guess no Alpine could lead some people to travel to Camden instead of there as well.

Do NOT do the pit in Camden unless you just absolutely have to be as close as freaking possible. We were lower reserved last year and the pit looked like a refugee camp for 50 that's they crammed 200 into. Seriously people looked miserable.

Did you go through the warehouse?

My buddy who I'm going with has an early warehouse account (98/99). Was wondering what to expect with seating locations. We did reserved only. That is assuming we get selected. Is Night 2 usually the seniority night?

No, madpiker on here scored our seats from a hookup thread. Great seats. They were TM tickets.

N2 was the "better" night and with the dropping of alpine I'd bet n2 might be a hard ticket to snag.

I would say with 85% certainty that your wasting your money on the Warehouse if you only use it for tickets. Your seniority is extremely low as DMB has an extremely strong following in Philly/South Jersey. No Jones Beach this year either so many (like me) will be coming down from NYC for the shows I would assume.

    TM all the way.

I have to say, I was PIT both nights last year and it's not as bad as people on here say it is. Was in front of Stefan both nights, about 4 ppl deep and we had plenty of room. Also, during the encore both nights we walked out towards the edge of the pit so we could escape quickly after the show and there was a ton of room there. Definitely getting pit both nights again this year....I loved it.
Seriously, when Boyd walks over and is playing right up in your face piece it's totally fucking worth it.

Sure. And this is where I have to stress that we were not actually IN the pit just a few rows back watching everyone squirm around in there for space. I'm sure the views are incredible which is why so many people get packed in there. My comments are only in regards to the siZe of the pit area and the amount of people they put in there versus a pit at Houston or Dallas, etc.

Try to get there early if you want to get a close spot to the venue otherwise you'll get dumped into the Campbell's Field lot and it's a hike. If you're planning on having friends take the ferry over and meet you in the lot they might not allow people to walk into the lot. (This happened in 2012)

If you want to make it out of the area without sitting in traffic start making your way to an exit before encore but in a place where you can still hear the music or see if you like. as soon as those last notes hit book it to your car. This is the fastest way to get out.
