Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

Never had the time to hit the rolling store when it comes to town, always seem to have something else going on. I have seen plenaty of pictures and they always have a pretty big long of peeps. I would suggest getting there early if you go.

Chilly rainy day here, might be stuck inside all day...darn. So far I've already spun the RSD release for Shogun Assassin OST and now on Django Unchained OST.

Pulled the trigger on Phish MSG Vinyl on ebay for $170, including shipping. Not bad.

Elephant on vinyl is excellent. Ive got an OP and I play it all the time. I think I read somewhere that the recent repessings are a little more dynamic on some tracks than the original. Well worth having in a collection.

My Live at Carnegie Hall box set just showed up! I was very nervous if Amazon would be able to fill the order. Pouring down rain outside, kids games cancelled, just perfect timing.

Same here! So much that my phone got blocked "forbidden" from Spacelab. Eventually got back on. Still F5'd every hour on the hour during normal business hours until I saw its delayed indefinitely on Friday morning.

Makes me worried for their Megaman drop and obviously their Fallout release as well.

If you had to pick on piece of vinyl to keep from your collection (combination of music itself and sound quality of pressing) what would it be? For me...

    A3 Subteranean Homesick Alien

B1 Exit Music (For A Film)
    B2 Let Down

I have no clue what I'd pick. Every piece is so special to me because I can remember when and where I got each album. Then listening to it and what period of my life that music was attached to. I think I'd have to let the whole thing burn before picking just one thing to keep forever. One item would remind me that I used to have so much.

I would probably have to go with the first record that really started me on "the hobby" which was the Smashing Pumpkins MCIS boxset. Specifically, Side A and B

A1 Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
    A2 Tonight, Tonight
    A3 Jellybelly
    A4 Zero

    B1 Here Is No Why
    B2 Bullet With Butterfly Wings
    B3 To Forgive

It's not a perfect pressing by any means (looking at you Zero), but probably seven songs that I've religiously listened to since I was 9 years old.

Picking just one piece is mean.

I think it would probably be disc 2 of the AAA reissue of August and Everything After. It's one of the very best sounding records I own (my OP would have the whole album but sounds like ass compared to this):

    C1 Rain King
    C2 Sullivan Street
    C3 Ghost Train

    D1 Raining in Baltimore
    D2 A Murder of One

Anybody here ever pick up a copy of the MOV Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step release that came out last fall?

Based on the good reviews of the original pressing and MOV in general, i've got to imagine this latest pressing is pretty stellar, but was curious if anybody around here has a copy of their own.

    Super tough choice.

Probably The Mars Volta-De-loused in the Comatorium. I love the album and the vinyl is far better than the CD.

The other option would be Dire Straits- Communique, that's the best pure sound I have on vinyl.

Just got a Spin Clean for a gift, so my days of washing one side at a time with a paint edger are over! I do have a wet/dry vac with felt-lined attachment I'd been using for drying. Is that still preferred after running records through the Spin Clean, or do most of you just use the cloths provided?

If I had 5 picks, these 3 would almost certainly make it. If it's one piece of wax, I'll pick the piece I've played the most in my 5 years collecting

    Radiohead - Kid A

A1 Everything In It's Right Place
    A2 Kid A

    B1 The National Anthem
    B2 How To Disappear Completely

Is anyone still looking for Recently or the Grateful Dead release (Houston TX in '72) from last Black Friday? A guy in another group is selling his copies, still sealed. $41+shipping for the Dead, $36+shipping for DMB. I did a trade with him prior and she's quick and ships everything in a bombproof package.

I'd say yes. I'd also say there's no need to use Discogs when it's still available from AccousticSounds unless discogs is cheaper shipping or something. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/84...M_Vinyl_Record

I'm a pretty huge Counting Crows fan and have everything they've put on vinyl, doubles of some even. All of them sound pretty fantastic except for the newest album which sounds like really flat, like a CD transfer. AAEA sounds fantastic (really shines on the less rocked out stuff - intro to Anna Begins, Ghost Train etc.). I haven't ever listened to all my best sounding records on the same day (note to self, do that), but from memory it beats my Mofi albums like Beck's Sea Change and any other AAA pressing I have that I know of.

On a similar note, anyone heard much about this Pet Sounds reissue they're doing? I have a Capital release but it leaves much to be desired.
