Summer, Highland Falls has always felt incomplete for me. Beautiful though.

I finally got the Shea Stadium show... holy shit. So many highlights. Right off the bat with Angry Young man, Zanzibar, Billy the Kid with the full orchestra... so many high points. Then such great performances like Summer Highland Falls and Miami 2017. And of course all the guest appearances. Love Mayer's appearance and it's clear Billy dug it too. Instantly one of my favorite live albums.

When I was a student at University of Florida, he did a tour stop there. It involved him talking about his songs and then playing some. Then talking. He did Q&A with the audience. Invited a guy on stage to play harmonica on Piano Man. One of the best concert experiences ever. Saw him solo and with Elton John. He's a great performer, and has written some brilliant songs.

But, yeah, I get the feeling he's a complete asshole in real life.

He's actually a pretty hilarious guy. I've never met him personally, but his demeanor in interviews has always come off positive. Likes to make jokes, does a lot of self deprecating humor. I bet hes pretty cool.

He hates Cold Spring Harbor if I recall correctly. I think because the way the sound was edited after he recorded

So he added another show at MSG. I just scored Citi presale tickets. Behind the stage, but I don't even care. I just need to be in the building for ONE Billy Joel concert at some point in my life and who knows if this dude is ever going to tour again.

That's also cool because seeing Billy at the Garden is just how it should be. I'd love to go as well, but the date doesn't work for me unfortunately

Seen Billy 3x by himself and once with Elton. All three shows are memorable. Not many artists who make individual shows memorable like Billy can.

GD IT! I received the same offer via my AT&T Universal Card and have had nothing but problems trying to get these tickets... when it does work, and they have availability, I've gotten nothing better than section 223. How the hell are people snagging floor.

Only Billy Joel story I've ever heard first hand came from a band's manager from a show I ran in college.

They were at the same restaurant in Philly for Valentine's Day with their significant others, and the place was all valet parking. They ended up leaving at the same time, and each of their ladyfriends went to the restroom, so he ended up waiting in front of the place with just him and Joel getting their cars. They were just standing there, so he said something like, "Mr. Joel, I didn't want to bother you inside but I'm a huge fan. I work in the music business and it's a real honor to meet you."

Joel's response was, "Yeah," and he proceeded to turn his back to the guy until his car came.

Managed to grab a few to the February 3rd show as well. I am no die hard fan, but I know enough songs where I feel obligated to see him at least once. At the beginning of the day yesterday, one show at MSG was scheduled. By the end of the day, three.

Also, to add to the stories, I have heard a couple times from friends who have met him, and friends of friends, that he is not a nice guy.

When I saw this this morning I was so happy for two reasons. One Billy Joel is awesome. Two, I've been wondering for years why more artists who have insane levels of demand don't just move to NYC for some extended period of time and do shit. The Allmans do it, but that's about it, besides like super niche artists who do residencies at tiny places. Like instead of the Stones playing 2 shows at Barclays and charging $400, do like 15 shows over two months and charge less. Not like they wouldn't sell most of the seats, it's NYC. So many classic rock acts could do this. Hell, DMB, Pearl Jam, etc could do it easily.
