Re: Android

I have the Droid Eris running 2.1 and I love it, when I get a new job, I'll probably upgrade to the newest android phone they have... for now, Android owns iPhone.

    Re: Android

I've had an HTC Hero for about three weeks now. Once you get it set up right, it's like butter. Personally, I think the Android OS is far superior to the iPhone, and you're not paying for Apple's fascism since the OS is open source and the headsets are available on nearly all carriers and manufactured by multiple companies. Unlike the iPhone, there is some choice here.

My Droid does everything an iPhone can do and more. I even rooted my Droid and now I have a working, albeit crappy, iPhone emulator on my Droid.

The only reason I didn't wait for the EVO was for the simple reason that 4G is not schedule to be available in my area for the foreseeable future. The phone itself is awesome, but I usually wait until something has been out for a few months before I buy it.

Nice, what version of Android is the EVO running, 2.1? I picked up a Hero in February (couldn't beat the price) so I'll wait awhile before getting the EVO. After using an Android based phone for 4 months I don't know how I ever lived without.

I'm starting school again in the fall and its a big deal if it syncs contacts and calendars well with the Mac programs.

    Thanks.

What Mac programs do you need syncing with? I don't have my Android based phone connected to any computer I just use over the air syncing with my google account

I don't have a Mac so I don't know much about iCal. Is it all web based?

Android is made by Google so it syncs nicely with google calendar

    Re: Android

Went with a T-Mobile MyTouch 3G last August. One year later, still love it, even though there has been a LOT of improvement in the Android world. So many new, sexy fast phones. The only problem with my MyTouch is the relatively slow processor speed - max 528Mhz when rooted and overclocked. I'm running 2.2 with Cyanogenmod nightly build. I live by my Google calendar and Gmail, and don't miss synching with iTunes at all. 16GB memory card filled with 10GB of music, a couple GBs of photos and a handful of must-have apps, especially Wifi Tether (for root users) Engadget, Twitter, Facebook, Weather Channel, Frodo and some NES emulator. I don't do a bunch of gaming, personally.

Anyway, I'm an Android user for life now. Awesome OS! I've never had iPhone envy, and never will.

2 great deals for all of you with an htc evo.

1: a free skin for the evo (only the cost of shipping, 2.80 i believe)
HTC Evo 4G Full Body Protection

    2. a custom colored (or clear) back battery door
    Custom Evos, Customized Evo accessories

the battery door is the one i am really excited about, they are being dont by a guy over at xda-develoeprs (basically the best htc phone site ever.
    more info in this thread:
[Mold is being done] Clear Battery Door - xda-developers

if you order a battery door use the coupon code "flipzmode" at the very end of your transaction to get a dollar donated to flipz (he of fresh evo fame)

    that is all.

p.s. i am not anyone affialiated with any of the above projects. just trying to help get the word out\get you a good deal

I figured I'd top this thread, I just rooted my HTC Hero and installed a custom android 2.1 ROM and wow, it's 1000 times better than the stock Hero. Once the devs release a final version of 2.2 I'll move to that rom. If you have an android and are thinking of rooting it, do it. It was easy to do and opens up a ton of possibilities for your phone

See one, then speak. Sorry to tell you the iPhone is not the king anymore!
Droid is faster, more reliable, no dropped calls and can literally do everything the iPhone can do and more.

The iPhone is sooo tiny compared to the droid. Droid has HD Streaming to your TV, 8MP camera, 3 mics for noise cancellation, faster and more customizable OS. Its sex.

does anybody know of a good case for the Motorola Droid? I used to have a plastic one, but it was a piece of shit. I'd like something that protects it but doesn't seem too bulky.

You might want to check out the droid case by otterbox. There a little pricey but rock solid

Im having some trouble with my new HTC EVO 4G. It's only three weeks old and I've already had to do a hard reset - probably due to a virus. But the thing just stopped working. Literally couldn't do anything on it. I could receive calls, but not make them. I had to email my dad to have him call Sprint so they could call me....ugg frustrating. But anyway, I've reset it and downloaded the LookOut security app - Sprint recommended it.

Im still having a problem - mainly with the Facebook app. I DLed the app and everything was working fine. A day or two later it asked if I wanted to install an update so I did. Now it doesnt work. It just prompts a message that says "sorry this application has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

Also, my Angry Birds app stopped working basically in the same way when I installed a new system update yesterday. I should note that I had moved that app to the SD card...Im not sure if that makes a difference.

Anyone have these problems before? Any advice?

Any advice?
People in the reviews on the Facebook page in the market say that the update made Facebook stop working altogether for them too. So you're not alone there. Must just be an Evo quirk, because my fb app is fine after the update on my Inspire.
