The entire season 2 after this weekend?! Im not sure about that.

I dont think it will be easy to mod, so maybe it will just be up to people to be cautious when reading and courteous when discussing.

Like - if you do finish the entire season soon, dont post the cliff hanger or something.

I don't know if my opinion carries any extra weight here as the thread starter or not (if not that's totally clue, I'm not looking for a power trip ) but even though the entire series debuts at once, I think it would be perfectly reasonable and polite to not talk about MAJOR plot points outside of tags for at the very least until Monday (certainly at the very least, the huge event that finishes out episode 1). I think generally speaking in my memory, even threads we have dedicated to specific feature films -- as opposed to Casey's movie thread -- those don't have big spoilers openly talked about until the end of opening weekend.

But I mean my previous post for instance, the rape that I talked about, I think I mentioned it in general enough terms (and that since it includes a brand new character we've never seen before, and might hardly ever again) I think I handled that openly in the thread with a fair amount of consideration.

Any time I put something up, I'll disclose which episode I'm discussing before the spoiler I tagged, so people know if it's safe to read or not depending on where they are at.

I'm pretty confident I'll get through nearly all of it, if not the entire thing by the end of the weekend, so I admit I am probably a little biased on that "Fair game" suggestion by the end of the weekend. I've already knocked out three episodes and I would keep going with it, if I didn't have to work tonight.

This is a great example - thanks for spoiling that there is a rape.

Regarding movie threads, HOC is a little different because with a movie you've either seen it or you havent yet. With this show people are at all different spots at different times, but probably still wanting to discuss with people without reading spoilers.

Like I said, its probably not possible to mod. I guess just read with caution and if you dont want anythign spoiled, it might be better just to stay out of the thread.

Yea I think this is a good idea. If people just took two seconds to start their post with "Season 2 Ep 5!!" or something, that would be great

hahaa... I hear ya, but trust me, I didn't really significantly spoil anything for you. It's not a rape that takes place in the current time of the show, it's something WAY in the past. Honestly with the first 2 eps done so far, I wouldn't be surprised if it was referred to simply to inform on how Frank might behave. hell there were 20 other plot points introduced in the first couple hours that are way bigger than that.

pretty good line that Spacey had in the opening scene of ep3 about the VP slot, that I'd never heard before. the "Vice Presidents can either be door mats, or matadors. Which do you think I am?"

    My favorite show by far.

Anyone notice how the tend to make the camera angles so Frank always looks to be above everyone? Spacey isn't the tallest guy. Something I appreciate about how it's shot.

Re: David Fincher & Kevin Spacey's HOUSE OF CARDS On Netflix (2.1.13)

btw one of the details I always find particularly interesting in any story that's being told about a presidency in the modern day is when during the recent past the show's universe sort of "branched off" from reality. I mean there clearly had been Reagan, we knew that right from the start of the pilot episode where Frank says he wants to coin the "trickle down diplomacy" term. But then it was either in episode 2 here or 3, and they quickly show that photo of Spacey sitting on a couch with Clinton, so perhaps he was the last real life president as far as HOC exists.

because even in The West Wing, we never did find out exactly who Jed Bartlet beat for his first term in office, only that he only did so by way of the electoral college, that he lost the popular vote. and they don't ever give the name the president he came directly after (when we see James Cromwell in season 5, I don't think he was supposed to have been Bartlet's immediate predecessor, probably one removed).

and gonzo to your above point, yea I think clearly that's a pretty deliberate move with the camera. And not especially surprising, given the place they mean to convey how Frank is among his peers.

question/topic thru episode 10, though this is a relatively small one...

A general question I'd like to ask the thread that I was thinking about, who do you think is less redeemable at this point. Frank, for pulling all of the stuff that he has, or Doug Stamper, for so willingly doing all of this horrible stuff just FOR Frank? being, as the Chinese guy called him, his errand boy.

and has everyone been paying attention to the Director credit? Fincher doesn't seem to have been directly as involved this season, there are some carryovers. but I've noticed both Jodie Foster and Robin Wright herself have directed episodes.

I can't help but wonder if that was maybe photoshopped, only her head.
I just finished episode 1 of season 2 and I clearly missed this photo

Either way, holy shit. This and Game of Thrones are the two best shows on "TV" right now. It's painful knowing that the next episode is right there for you to watch but you can't watch it because life gets in the way.
