Well, NAMM is about to happen, so hopefully it gets released this year. Should be interesting to see if it does come out. I will be buying it the day of the release if it is!

I doubt it will come out.. There was some spec. that it would come out @ the summer NAMM last year.

    Re: Carter Beauford

Well the chances of it being released at winter NAMM are much greater than it being released at summer NAMM. Summer NAMM is a much smaller trade show than the one in the winter and its focus is primarily on industry development whereas the winter show is more about new products being revealed. But this speculation surrounding the unveiling of his signature snare occurred during the last winter NAMM show as well. I received second hand information that the snare won't actually be released until next year, 2010, and starting this year Yamaha will offer some sort of "sign up" list for potential buyers. The snare will likely see a limited run production so this lets Yamaha know how in-demand and desirable the snare will be and possibly give them an idea on how many to make.

I didn't want to make it seem like I was doubting what you said, because I don't.

Only a limited amount? I figured Carter's snare would be one of the most in demand snares Yamaha would have? I will definitely have my name on that list though. I WANT this snare

I hope its not a "cheaper" version that is suppose to be almost like it... Ive been playing Yamaha for over 10 years and let me tell you this snare WILL NOT be cheap. Better have over $1000 dollars ready to drop on this bad mofo

    I've never posted here before.

However, I'll preface by saying this. I am a Guitar Center Employee, working Drums. I have contact with many instrument company representatives.

I called my Yamaha rep today to verify any validity to these rumors and he says they are not true. He told me he might have some information for me at NAMM next week, so I'll keep you guys informed within the week!

Well, I have direct contact with Yamaha Customer Service, Product Support - specifically in the Drum Department. They know for a fact what's going on, seeing as NAMM is right around the corner and they're all gonna be there.

    ...As will I.

Do you guys have any specs on the drum? Cause i know he's used some Jeff Ocheltree snares for a long time, so i'm curious if the specs for his snare will be the same or close to it...

Speaking to Yamaha R&D today, at NAMM, there was no Beauford snare present. They also have no information to give out on it at this time. They did say, however, anything being said about the snare's availability is just rumors.

I also spoke to Ron Dunnett, who made Carter's purple snares, and we talked about how he wanted to make a signature snare line for Carter but as soon as Yamaha heard word, they jumped in and pushed the aluminum on Carter.

Carter still uses his Dunnetts in the studio.

Of course without any official information being released everything being mentioned is just rumors.

It looks like the information I was given is holding up so far. No winter NAMM '09 release of the snare.

And Ronn doesn't have the greatest relationship with Yamaha. They've been know for stealing his ideas.
