Some questions to those who have followed an entire tour...

I've always wanted to follow the band through an entire Summer tour, but have never been able to. I'm thinking about doing this this year and just wanted some insight into how others have done this.

- How did you afford it?
- Where did you sleep?
- What was your transportation?
- How much did it cost?
- Was it awesome?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm really curious. I wonder sometimes how much longer the band has touring, so I want to enjoy them while they're here. Any responses at all would be awesome.

the 2 young ladies that did it in 2010 had a website about their experience, but I can't remember how to find it...I still see several of the people in that group at shows quite often

I haven't done this, I have done about 10 max in one tour. I think some of these questions can be semi-accurately guessed in case you don't get the exact figure you're seeking.
    for example:
average ticket cost ~$60(if you do some lawn and some reserved)
average hotel/motel/camping per night ~$100(depends on time of year)
transpo w/own car ~$50 per show
or transpo w/rentals and public transpo ~$400 per week

you can save a lot if you sleep in the car or have people in the area to stay with. also splitting hotel/motel/camping and splitting gas/rental cost with a friend or two. based on this I'd guess that a modest tour of about 36 shows would come to somewhere around $10,000?

I've heard armed bank robberies are a great way to pick up some quick cash.

Remember that Kayla girl? KFPoling i think was her user name....I believe she had a trust fund or something she used in what was it, 2009? You would have to do it while you were in college or unemployed.

At least she got her pic in the latest DMB book for her trust fund $$$.

lucky bastards... each and everyone of you... for having the option. as for my 2cents, here it is: www.couchsurfing.org you probably all know it, since USA is leading there. but as for me - i cannot spend one night in an hotel of any sort, after starting to travel like that 3 years ago.

If you had the time, then the logistics would be the easy part. Network with people and stay with those who live close to the venues. It really wouldn't cost all that much. I did 18 shows this summer and didn't spend very much. It's all about how you plan it.
