For pre-partying, those that are in town on Monday night we are planning to show a DMB concert on our outdoor theater. Screen is 9x16 with full sound.

No idea yet, the shows mastered by Copperpot from Youtube are great, but sometimes the glitch in streaming can ruin the vibe.

That does sound fun. Tks for the invite, goggle says roughly 7 hrs 38 min drive from Berkeley. So that means 7 hrs 39 mins means BEER

Chances are we will stop before Crater Lake as we want to stop there again then roll into Bend early Tues

Flying from Oakland to Seattle and then i rented a car for the drive to Bend.

Was first planing on driving from Berkeley, but the car rental became so much more expensive when I rented in Oakland and left the Car In Seattle. Oneway charge on a couple of hundred bucks.

I'm flying in to Oakland and then home again to Sweden from Seattle

Too many rental vehicles sitting in Seattle and not enough in Oakland. Did you check multiple rental companies?

I went thru a search site for many different companies when I booked.

It will work out fine for me driving this way and there is probably a reason for the extra charge

They add that charge as a deterrent, or off-set costs to return a vehicle to that service area. If they have plenty of stock, they want you to take it to another city and leave it there.

Driving up is a very pretty drive. There are many places you could stop and spend time. It will be well worth it.

Completely agree with this. I spend a good portion of my time working in the Bay Area and in the summer months frequently drive from Bend.

The drive from Bend to the Gorge is also scenic, some might call it desolate.

Going from Bend to the Gorge, thru The Dalles and then to Mt Rainier and Yakima, The Gorge.
Probably stay the night at Paradise Inn somewhere
