Band did play well. The acoustic set was poor other than Typical and Bartender, but I may be a bad judge of that because I've yet to see an acoustic set Ive really enjoyed

OSW was cool too. One of my favorites and a classic.

Typical, crush, triplets, ants, bowa, bayou, aatw all stand out for me. Was hoping to get raven for the first time. First show in a while where I didn't get a dmb song I hadn't heard before. Great show, just wanted to hear more dmb songs in place of the covers.

Was happy the ladies were used at least reasonably well. When they are on Everyday or BOWA it's fine (Everyday was absolutely amazing), but was hoping for something like Drunken Solider, JTR, Stay or Save Me in place of the two covers and Be Yourself. Overall everything was great except for Be Yourself and Bayou. Bayou just kinda caught me off guard. It's been at least two years since I listened to the studio version. Band had great energy and always love OSW, Typical and #41. Crush was amazing and so was the encore. Was happy to finally get the So Much To Say>ASTB>Too Much run. Can't wait to get a tape and listen to it over again. Dave was up there dancing around most of the night and that really got the crowd into it a lot. Definitely had the most variety of the shows I've been to, at least one song off of every album.

I was also underwhelmed. We didn't get any of the traffic hell because we decided to pack it up and leave during Bayou. I'd heard enough.

I agree with an earlier comment that the acoustic set kills it. You're jacked up and ready to see the band play. You've waited all winter, you've done some pre-partying in the lot, and you're primed. Then, they come out with an acoustic Rye Whiskey. It's kind of a letdown. I felt the same way last year. I get it; they're opening for themselves. It's a cool concept, but I'd much rather them come out full-band and kill it for the first few songs.

Too many covers, not the right energy, and no crowd connection on Friday. However, Charlotte has gotten some pretty great sets the past few years so we can't complain that much. This show definitely didn't leave me wanting to pack up and go follow them for the next several shows like it usually does.

I was on vacation, so didn't get tickets this year, and that appears to be a good decision. From the ladies to the bad reviews above to the blah looking setlists, I'd say that worked out pretty well. The acoustic thing is played out for venues of this size.

I'll agree with you also. Wife and I were in the back of the pit and the energy was phenomenal from start to finish. The crowd was also one of the best I've been around.

How is this pavilion/crowd? Haven't been to NC for a concert before, and thinking of adding it next year.

While at VA Beach, the wife said, "They were just in NC. Why didn't we go?" I didn't have a real answer.

Charlotte rocks! Great pavilion, lots of trees, and consistently good set lists.

It's my local venue, but i've been to a few others and I think it stacks up pretty well. VIP parking is worth it if you want to get out of the lots in a reasonable time frame. That's the only negative I can think of. I'm sure you'll find people that hate it, but I think it's as good as any of the other sheds.

Sidenote - not real sure about the acoustics there. If you get lowers like i usually do, it really doesn't seem to matter.

And by reasonable time frame do you mean an hour and a half? That's how long I had to wait to get out of VIP parking.

Since VIP parking is located closest to the main gate you have the entire main parking lot ahead of you trying to get out. You're furthest away from the road.

They let VIP out first in a dedicated lane. The general lots aren't allowed to exit for some period of time while the VIP empties. I generally head back to the car right after encore and get out pretty quick. You must've not gotten back to your car in time.
