Your Top 5 Big Whiskey Songs

Now that everything has had time to really sink in...list your top 5 songs, from the album.

Kind of a no-brainer here, for me. These 5 are really all I listen to, anyway. [Bonus songs from LRB included]

1. Lying in the Hands of God
2. Seven
3. Why I Am
4. Little Red Bird
5. Write a Song

HM. Spaceman is great live, but the studio is kind of weak, imo

    Honestly, I only have a top 4.

Lying In The Hands Of God
    Alligator Pie
    Seven
    Baby Blue

I don't care about the rest of the album, or LRB.

EDIT - Actually, I like #27. I hate Beach Ball. Little Red Bird and Write A Song are nothing to me as well.

Guess I like the 'S' songs

How can we count songs from Little Red Bird? Its B-sides. Its like saying Granny, Drive In Drive Out and Get In Line are my favorite tunes from Under the Table and Dreaming

lol. There wasn't a B-sides disc with Crash, unfortunately. The Little Red Bird disc was released as a companion to the album and, imo, a few of the songs are better than most of those off of the main disc. Who knew? I really like Trouble With You, too. Part of Stand Up, and better than anything off of that album.

But that doesn't mean if you think its better it suddenly becomes part of the album. Its not.

Europeans could argue about Write A Song or Corn Bread, sure. Those 2 are on their version of Big Whiskey (but listed as bonus tracks)

It was only a companion to the Deluxe Edition. People who just bought the album in stores didn't get these tunes. They're not part of the album.

    Agree to disagree i suppose

Though, Seven and Lying In The Hands of God >>>>> the others by far. Seven is catchy.

i agree that bonus songs should not count. if they didn't give us a b-side disk, we wouldn't have those songs. they aren't actually part of the album.

    1- LITHOG
    2- Squirm
    3- Seven
    4- Alligator Pie

Beach Ball has some of the worst lyrics since "I call you up. You pick up." Little Red Bird is barely even a song. Write A Song is boring, but omg it sounds like old DMB!!! It's epic!!!

It seriously could not exist for all I care.

For what it's worth, I doubt the band sat there and said, "Hmm, Trouble With You is probably the best song we've got here. These other 14 are going on the album instead, though."

2)Why I Am (Love Carter live on this)
    3)Baby Blue (Big 3 good)
    4)Alligator Pie
    5)Write A Song (Classic)

I personally can't stand LITHOG from the album, it's amazing live and Jeff kills it, but on the album? Take it or leave it. And yes, Trouble With You is one of the top 3 songs from Stand Up, bonus song or not.

It's not bad, but I'm not sure if it's better than half the stuff on the album, let alone top 3, let alone the clear best song.

Every time I listen, I walk away so unsatisfied. Like, "What was that?" There's no substance to it. Okay, I get it; it's a "nice little song". To me, it's just a waste. There's just nothing there. I can't even take anything away positively.
