Sure, it's probably made EPs and single releases more common, but the albums still exist.
EDIT: But also, what's to say what the 'correct' length of a piece should be? If you can say something in 2 songs, why throw 10 more in there? Plenty of classic albums are way closer to a collection of songs than a cohesive whole. Also, if you really go down the route, the length of vinyl (and so, albums in the historic sense) is pretty arbitrary and set by "the man" too
