Re: Sundresses, Stilettos and Louisiana Lobsters; Springtime in the South

Auburn always gets a warm welcome in Oxford. I was there the last time they came to town and the fans mingle nicely. It's a cordial Southern style warm welcome when the plains come to the Mississippi hill country. Rebels fans tend to respect Auburn more because I think we model our organization after yours in many ways. Now, if you were coming into town to watch LSU or State you may get a different perspective, but you will find the grove to be almost unreasonably kind to the opposing fans. It's such a magical place, and that walk from the square to the grove to the stadium is so much fun.

Besides UGA, I've seen Auburn play Ole Miss the most. I almost went there so I respect the hell out of it. Never been to Oxford so I'm stoked. Never had a bad experience with Rebel fans.

Really hope we get into town on Friday kinda early I want to check out Square Books and everything. Grove is what I'm most pumped about though. Halloween on Friday so I'm sure the town will be buzzing. Blind Pig sounds like a fun time since I'm a beers geek.

Tennis this afternoon. Now sitting on my friends back porch drinking margaritas, eating fajitas and listening to country. It doesn't get better than this. The weather is phenomenal.

    Matt gets it^

I bet margs and fajitas taste better in Texas

We had a cold spell this weekend (40s-50s) but it'll be back in the 80's this week. Pumped for Gulf Shores next week!

You could probably just go to Pat O'Brien's for a Hurricane and Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop for Purple Drank and you'll be set for alcohol. I think all other bars on Bourbon you can walk by and peak in to see what you'd like. Preservation Hall doesn't serve alcohol but it's a good relax spot. Only been to one strip club on Bourbon but it was Hustler and it was classy. Maybe too classy for Bourbon Street. There are a lot of bars, some classier than the Bouron Street variety elsewhere in the Quarter and Marigny Triangle area, if you were up for that.

Worst strip club I've ever been to in my life was on Bourbon.

Bourbon on the whole is pretty awful.

I don't know you all that well, so I don't know what kind of bars you dig, but there was this cool dive bar/voodoo lounge thing called 1135 Decatur that I really liked the last time I was there.

I can't really remember the names of the other bars around there that I liked, but as a whole, I thought that was a cool, chill area.

"Off of Bourbon St" could mean bars with physical addresses on Bourbon St, colloquially. I figure that since he also inquired about strip clubs, that's what he meant.

But if you're going to bars not in the French Quarter, then just hang around Frenchman Street or some pockets of Magazine like near Josephine St or where the Bulldog is located (great beer selection).

Absolutely. Can't not hit up Bourbon, but if you're into the music scene in NOLA Frenchmen trumps.

Also I can't talk about NOLA and not mention this place

    http://portofcallnola.com/

Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you're getting sick of the NOLA cuisine or want to change it up for a meal, definitely hit this place up.

Is that the place that's only lit by candles? If so, I highly suggest going there. It has a very cool vibe to it. We went down for my bachelor party last year and that was everyone's favorite palce. We went there every night we were there.

The karaoke place on Bourbon was a good time. I forget the name. I sing and play guitar (used to play out quite a bit) and I surprised a lot of people when I got up and could actually sing HAHA.

Hell yeah. I'll be with group of drunk college kids so I'll sure we'll be everywhere. Just wanted to see what cool ones to hit up during the day. Thanks dude.

I've been to NOLA before and walked around Bourbon but I wasn't old enough to drink so I'm pretty pumped.

Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you're getting sick of the NOLA cuisine or want to change it up for a meal, definitely hit this place up.
    Looks dope.
