This came up out of nowhere. I wonder if they'll be playing some other international shows this spring? Or possibly a mini run state side.

I hope this isn't a one-off show and that they play a few others around this time wherever they can. But this seems interesting. The festival is usually at least 50,000 people per night, and last year it was 70,000. That would be the biggest crowd DMB has seen in a while, by far.

Looking forward to the setlist debate. Is it just because its a festival? Or is this what we have to look forward to this summer

I'd think it'll have zero correlation to the summer tour. Just look at the spring 13 southern run compared to summer 13.

If the set is a dud it'll be because it's a festival in another country. Need to play songs they want to hear.

I'm curious to see if they'll bust out something they've been working on in the studio

Other people will call you jaded, but I'll say you're realists.

Only took them 16-17 years to get to Mehico after that cancellation in '97 or '98.

It's a festival set in a foreign country and they haven't played there before. It's also the first show of the year so they won't have rehearsed much before it, if at all. There going to play easy songs for them that a high percentage of the fans have heard. They aren't busting out crazy easy or kit kat jam or last stop for a Mexican festival. If anyone expects them to then the problem is with them not the band.

The dates could lead to DMB playing another big festival in April...in California...a few miles from my house...

This should hopefully lead to them announcing a Europe 2015 tour, and in particular at least ten stops in the UK

Mexico is super far from Europe. And Europe is icky and it smells. They should just tour near my house...forever...

U.S. fans complaining about international setlist quality is ridiculous. 1) You're probably not even there, and 2) if you only got a chance to see your favorite band ONE time every few years (if even that much), wouldn't you want to make sure you saw them play some of their best stuff (read: "the hits")? A few surprises/rarities are always fun, but I don't see a problem with somewhat pedestrian setlists for an audience that rarely gets a DMB show at all.

Ron Swanson says it best "America! The only country that matters."

Who is complaining? I made my prediction based on your premise. I picked frequently played "hits"

A few surprises/rarities are always fun, but I don't see a problem with somewhat pedestrian setlists for an audience that rarely gets a DMB show at all.
It's not complaining by guessing what setlist they'll be playing. It's the same thing as playing in the Setlist Game thread - people guessing what songs will be played at that show.

I think he's talking about people on the boards who abuse the sets as they watch, whilst the band's in Europe (which was some time during the 18th century I believe...)

I get his frustration - and even people who bash US sets where they play multiple times in one place. I'd kill to go and see a show! It's all relative though, it's what we're used to! It's one of the reasons I stick off the boards mostly (and avoiding the set-bashing also makes Ants a fun place to come back to )

I had a go at the Setlist Game one tour, and failed miserably!
