1. Yes
2. Don't know. Probably, but wouldn't count on it.
3. As this thread says, you have to be careful of drinking at Raccoon Creek regardless of age. Alcohol in PA State Parks is illegal. Sounds like you def should stay at Bennett, but be careful with underage drinking there too. Occasionally the police drive thru the campground.

On a side note, I like your straightforward style. If you end up at Bennett, I'll be at site 10. Ask for Dirty.

Star Lake is infamous for the parking lot meat wagon.

They send a hippie looking dude up and down the aisles trying to make deals. He finds a suitor and then calls the wagon up, they are cuffed and thrown in the back.

    Very entertaining.

Or "security guards" knock on your car window when you're rolling and take your shit, with threats of "you want us to bring the cops over?" Fuckers! They were probably smoking it 5min later.

Don't they go around and card for underage drinking too? I seem to remember watching a bunch of teens getting carted off from the lots one year.

    yeah they do.
if someone looks really young they will, but if you are being chill and not acting like total bro/dude/douches, then you usually aren't bothered

The police that patrol the parking lot are really good at spotting underage drinking. It's almost like as soon as an underaged person cracks open that beer, they pull out of nowhere, cards them, then busts them.

It's a very "Family Guy" style of reaction. Very impressive.

I've learned my lesson. All needed "rolling" is done prior to arriving.

Hanover Twp., Washington County. There's a Hanover Twp. in Beaver County too, just by Raccoon.

Hanover Twp lost its Full Time Police.

    State Police cover it now.

Niagara will hire part time local Police Officers to cover the venue itself.

Hello fellow Pittsburgh Ants...looking for some advice.

Been seeing DMB shows since 2000 and have never joined the Warehouse - always doing the "refresh refresh refresh" thing on Ticketmaster when they go on sale like a little robot. Always liked that feeling of controlling my own destiny even if I ended up mad half the time. And we always do the pavilion.

My wife and I are going to both shows, but neither can be online to get tickets the day they go on sale which is a total bummer - and I know they get snatched up fast after 10am or whenever.

My question - should I finally join the Warehouse and just pre-order the tickets and hope for the best? Although I know being a new member there is a chance being for a) crappy tickets or b) no tickets at all plus the added costs of joining.

Just trying to figure out a strategy before the weekend ends. Thanks for the help.

Yes, but don't request Pit so I have a better chance of getting them!!!

Is the lawn okay for kids 11 + 8? I've heard of family sections at some venues, anything like that at Starlake? We'll probably stay at Grove City, which looks to be an hour plus, could one of the locals post some more detailed directions around the traffic chaos. It's mush easier to drive further and keep moving with kids in the car. Thanks - we're looking forward to our first trip to western PA.

Grove City is way more than an hour from Starlake. Grove City is a good hour's drive South into Pittsburgh, and the venue is a good 45 minute drive Southwest of the City. You would be much better off staying in Robinson or by the airport, which would be a 15-20 min drive.

Unfortunately, Pittsburgh is known for summer road construction, so we won't be able to help with specific routes until we know what Pendot will be up to this summer.

I personally would not take kids to the lawn at any venue. Starlake gets a fair share of teens and college kids on the lawn who are just there to drink. You would be much better off to get Pavilion seats, even at the back of he reserved section.

Not all shows are tickets based on seniority. Some are random draw. I accidentally let my membership run out a few years ago when I changed my email address and forgot to change the warehouse so when I re-joined I didn't get my old status back. I still got good pavilion seats 2 years ago and got GA pit tickets for NYC MSG N2, which was a Sat night.

I agree with this right here.

I would say this is your best route from Grove City: http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Gr...1,2,3&t=m&z=10

The first part of 376 between 80 and 76 is a toll road so it'll cost you a few bucks. You can also do 79 south to 422 west to go from 79 to 376 south.

Hey all. I'm looking to make my first trip out to Star Lake. What's the camping situation? I saw on google maps that there is a state park nearby. That's something my friend and I would be interested in. Anyone have some info?

Your camping options are Raccoon Creek State Park:
    http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/statepar.../raccooncreek/

Typical state park campground: reserved campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, very nice and clean bathrooms, etc. Only drawback is that you need to watch yourself with booze/beer. Drinking is prohibited in the state parks, but you can manage if you don't act like a jerk, and keep things stashed.

    Or Bennett Acres:
    http://www.bennettacres.com/

A little bit more of a free-for all, first-come-first-served camping. I've never camped there, so I can't give specifics about the accommodations.

If you're camping at Raccoon, I highly recommend the D-Loop
