Re: **Deer Creek 2012**

I was wondering how the overall environment is at deer creek (parking/traffic)? What is the crowd like (age demographic, dmb knowledge, etc.)? My wife and I have decided that we are going to try Deer Creek out this year, mostly because it is the only show near us on the weekend. Would like to get some insight from ants who have been.

This year will be my first time at the creek as well but from what I gather it has a very loyal fan base, seems pretty aestehetically pleasing, and almost always gets really solid sets.

some of the other guys in here will give you a much more detailed response but deer creek is a great great venue. great atmosphere all around. camping is the big thing. traffic is traffic...idk how good or bad it was for me in 2010?..dont remember...but i promise it would be a very good decision to go and worth it

the seats are....6,000 seats under a pavilion and 18,000 general admission lawn seats.

but to answer your question...i would assume and kinda know demand for night 2 is pretty decently high...night 1 will be a little more lax on demand but i would waste time getting good seats though if say you request pavilion and get denied and have to go through general on sale. but percentage? no idea...im trying for my first time for a pit ticket night 2 and riverbend and i have no clue how close ill be at getting confirmed for either......

I'm a fan. I compare it kinda to my feelings on Crash Into Me at shows. I like the song and I don't go in to shows wishing for it or wanting it. I probably am not putting it in my ideal setlist for the show I'm at.

But, its always a solid song live. The crowd always gets into it, and I enjoy myself when I'm there listening and singing along to it.

This reads completely different than the post i responded to. I completely respect this.

Life will get definitely better, little Rozz, but don't expect it to get easier. Its always gonna have its pitfalls and challenges, but the rewards will become much better as well.

Depending on your seniority in WH, N1 pavillions could be pretty easy to get (even possibly with the public onsale). N2 always sells out pretty quickly. The pit thing moved things back a lot but as a 2003 Member, I am usually in the frontish area of the upper pavillion. Only had lower pavillion once.....

As far as environment. It's a pretty nice venue overall. Getting in before the show is pretty quick and easy. Traffic after can take a while depending on where you get parked. If you get there earlier, and get to your car somewhat quickly you can get out in like 10 minutes. Since a lot of people camp, there's less overall traffic then some other venues. The crowd is usually really good, of course you still get the high school and frat guys in the lawn just there to drink and some in the pavillion just there to be seen but usually pretty knowledgeable, usually pretty quiet on quiet songs.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

i would be pretty surprised if you got declined through the WH for pavilion at the creek either night. I haven't heard any stories of people being declined. I've always requested pavilion and been confirmed.

the pavilion at the creek is really nice. it's not huge so there aren't really bad seats except if you are to the extreme right or left.....

i have never had a significant issue with traffic getting in or out. the longest i've waited to get out was like 45 minutes, they do a really good job getting people in and out there. Crowd is pretty typical of most venues i think. You definitely have a lot of knowledgeable people and a lot of people just looking for a party. I would say that the number of people just looking for a party is much less than that of Alpine Valley. Overall I tend to find that the crowd is really pleasant. People have always been really nice and welcoming.

The creek isn't breathtakingly beautiful like the Gorge or Alpine, but it is a very nice venue. It's not huge, and i think that's a good thing. For me it's perfectly what i would want in a venue. Great sound everywhere and really awesome crowd.

It'll make it eventually - decent beer. I wouln't go buy it when I wanted an IPA. But would buy it if I was going to tailgate or do a bunch of yardwork - times when I'd be drinking large quantities.

I'm actually interested in both openers this year to the point that I'm contemplating going in early. So i guess the tailgate will have to start a little earlier then.

So good to have tailgating again this summer

I will pass on the camping but I definitely see how its attractive to most. It would be awesome to just be able to walk back to the camp free a show

Gary Clark Jr. is the man.

And he may be the deciding factor to get my percussionist friend to finally come to a DMB show. He loves Carter but hates everything else just cause of how much the rest of my friends love it

the pavilion at the creek is really nice. it's not huge so there aren't really bad seats except if you are to the extreme right or left.....
I have requested pavilion for 8 shows there and got denied once out of 8 times. I am not worried about not getting pavilion this year though
