I get 'Invalid Torrent' when I try to start download.

This is a rare error that we haven't been able to determine the cause. Please help us correct the problem but providing us info.

The problem appears to happen with 'newer' users or users that don't have any or few posts, and is first BT download from the site.

Please send us the invalid torrent file that you have download from the forums to staff@antsmarching.org Any other additional info you can send us would help also. Such as what Operating System you are using and Browswer and any unique settings you may have set on the site. We are trying to determine what the few people have in common that see this error.

I can tell you that it corrects itself after some time and when you try to redownload the torrent later.

Please email your torrent file like the directions state above.

I emailed the torrent file and followed directions maybe.. 10 days ago? Should I email the latest invalid torrent too? Tried another download last night, no go Thanks for any help you can give

After sending the email, I decided to try one more time to d/l and it is working. Thanks to anyone that may have already sent the email to Joe or to Joe himself for reading this thread. Can't wait to hear the show.

Potential solution:

I had this problem with 6.13.2008 but not with any other torrents I downloaded over the years. Comparing the (6.13.08).torrent to the one I was already downloading (6.14.08).torrent I noticed the text had wrapped onto new lines because of '-'s in the individual filenames. I downloaded the file again but instead of saving it as a .torrent I saved it as .torrent.txt, opened the file and confirmed no text had wrapped, and then renamed it to just .torrent

This fixed the issue for me however I realize it could also have been a product of downloading the file again but I still felt it was worth throwing this idea out there.

I had the same problem with utorrent.
I saved the .torrent to my hd and when I tried to use File>Add Torrent, it wouldn't work.
When I used File>Add Torrent (No Default Save) it worked fine.

I'm using firefox with u torrent and trying to d/l the three florida 08 shows. Error just say's invalid torrent. I'll try again and e mail him the problem but I'm mainly posting this to see if posting in general solves the problem. I haven't been to ants in about 7-8 months. Peace out

It says unable to load invalid torrent file. I can click on the torrent file once I click the torrent file it say's what do you want firefox to do with the file. I've tried all three u torrent, da one click and to disk. When on that page OK to start the process is taking forever to pop up. Once up after a minute or two I can click ok. Then I get the 1 kb file name in my folder then put that in u torrent to start and that is when the invalid error pops up.

joe, i get this now too, 1st time have downloaded lots since i ve been here even tried to download a show i finshed seeding, cant get any show at the moment

Just posting to see if this makes a difference but I have noticed the torrents that are downloaded off this bulletin really are invalid. A torrent file should have announcing providers, a file list and then non human readable content following. The torrents that are post here will only include providers but no file list. It could be possible the forums are cutting off the ends of the torrent files for some reason, maybe bad encoding handling.

I'm having the same problem. I had to go to dreamingtree to download the Charlotte torrent, and it worked fine, so I'm clueless as to what to do next. I also use utorrent- is that the problem? I've downloaded dozens of shows from am.org this way on utorrent for a while now, & never had a problem. Anyone figure this out?

pmed joe earlier. still cant download any torrent from ants, have all the same stuff and settings since i 1st started downloading, nothing has changed and this is the 1st time this has happenend. will try again this week when i have some time

hey im basically a moron when it comes to computers so i dont know if were talking about the same thing here but when i try to open the files using azureus vuze it says unable to open. if this is a different and fixable problem any help would be appreciated. or if this is the same problem you all are having let me know. thanks guys

Have the same problem with every show. Bittorrent was working great last week and now nothing. Posting to see if it fixes the problem as well.

I have the same problem as well. Every time i try to add the torrent file from my hard drive to the torrent client it says invalid torrent. I am using bit torrent beta with a Mac OS X 10.4.11 operating system and firefox is my internet browser. If anyone has advice it would be greatly appreciated i would really like to download the 1995.05.10 show at Yoshis.

I am having the same problem. I am on two different computers, one XP one Vista, and neither are working. XP runs Vuze, Vista is running utorrent.

eek! What a mess. I'm not really sure the moderators would like hearing this but it's an issue with the uploading of attachments. When torrent files are uploaded they are cut off after about 3-4kb, where as, text files make the upload just fine or any other file types for that matter work just fine.

I suppose a temporary solution would be for torrent submissions to be in the form of "dmb-2008-etc-etc-etc-.torrent.txt". Downloaders would have to remove the .txt from the file name not a major inconvenience but hey, it's a workaround.
