Thank you. Of course it's easy to assume based on just looking at the comments, but if you take a second and think about it it's pretty clear what he's referring to. They've been pretty open (recently) to the fact that they lost their way between the years of 2000-2006, so it's not surprising that he's tweeting this.

yep, and not only that, but he talked about how bad things were the few years prior. so for him to say how bad things were and that he almost walked out, and then say but things are great now, it means things are great now. he wouldn't have talked about the dark years if they were still in the middle of them.

I could be wrong about this but during the BW promotions, Dave said that it was in 2007 is when everything came to a head. They all talked out their problems and by 2008 they were feeling good again. So by speculation, its been about 2+ years since they worked stuff out and alot can happen during that time. Hell, it was a year since those interviews and who knows what can happen in a year. We should all just not worry until something official comes out.

I said it a couple weeks ago, no one has a thing to worry about. Nothing "bad" has happened to this band that has caused this break - other than the wanting of family/friend time outside of Summer Tours - that and, well...other "things".

How about this one: "2012 will be like jumping into a bed with clean sheets as far as the band's playing will go"

oh man well if stefan somehow makes that happen i will shit my pants
maybe they will end up mixing it up maybe they will play BTCS front to back, with Machead? If for some reason they busted out all the old stuff, and the stuff we havent heard my life would be complete, i doubt it, but all i have to say is you GO FONZI!! convince the band to see the light

It was tweeted about three hours ago, however the tweet before it was,

"so if you could hear us play 4 albums start to finish during random shows in upcoming shows and tours, what would those 4 be?"

So overall it could have been him more answering the question he asked than a suggestion as it appears out of context.

Pretty sure those are all cult classics...

And Captain is on BS - although the live version is the BS version and not LWS

I'm thinking that it's because it's more comforting to think that than to think that the band might be troubled again.

I'm not sure why people get so worked up over DMB breaking up though, even if they are their favorite band. If I'm being completely honest, if DMB breaks up, fine. Or if they come back in 2012 and have Dave, Carter, and a whole new lineup, fine. We all listen to this band because of Dave, and he'll always be doing stuff, whether it's solo work, D&T, D&F, etc, so it doesn't really matter. My favorite band of all-time, KISS, went on a "Farewell Tour" in 2000, and I didn't get worked up. I went to see them, and it was a great show and great run. Granted, they came back and are still going now, but people take these things wayyyyyy too seriously.

I mean, if the entirety of DMB was intact, except they brought on someone else to replace Dave, no one you guys would give a damn to listen to them I'm sure.

I think Fonzie wrote this stuff, but I think it's probably getting blown way out of proportion. It is more comforting to think hacked account though, I truly agree.

On another point, Dave Matthews is not the reason I love and support this band. Granted he is one of them: he's one of my favourite performers and songwriters of all time and he puts on a hell of a show night in and night out. But DMB is way bigger than and member of the band, Dave Matthews included. I go for Carter bubblegum and triplets, Boyd's shades and energy, Tim Reynolds and the element he adds, I go for the Stage Left Solidarity, I go for Stefan, I go for Roi. I go to shows for the crowd and the feeling of elation that this music gives me for the three hours I'm in the amphitheatre.

I think you're correct though in your evaluation that people have been freakin out too much. If DMB broke up, didn't come back for a tour in 2012, or if it was a farewell tour in 2012, fine. They deserve it. They've never given me anything but peace and joy in their music and I count this in my blessings everyday.

i wouldn't be so sure of that. if it was Boyd, Carter, Fonz, Jeff, Rashawn, and Tim all playing DMB songs i think they would still draw crowds because its the music. ya we'd still go see Dave doing whatever he's doing, but if they others are still playing Two Step and Ants they way they were last year, would you really not see them because Dave isn't there? its not like they're some cover band. i'd go see BCF+Friends playing DMB stuff before i'd go see D+F playing covers and Some Devil songs.

Why would you think that? Everyone knows that the band was troubled right after BTCS. If Stefan was on Twitter back then, I can't imagine the fodder there would have been for all the "They're Breaking Up!!" threads. Today we can read his random thoughts, so it's easy to "read in whatever you're choosing to"... if you will.

the problem is the current could be seen as another troubled time. if they toured next year and never said anything about not touring, what Fonz just said would instantly be taken as tLWS time. but it COULD be current, which is why its causing such a stir. ya, if Fonz was able to say this back in 2000 people would have been thinking they were going to break up. but the current isn't that much different. they just went through a bad stretch a few years ago and are now taking a "break." although unlikely, its plausible that he is talking about the present and not a decade ago.

They deserve it. They've never given me anything but peace and joy in their music and I count this in my blessings everyday.

Right on man. I hear what you're saying.

While I know that Dave isn't the only reason we love the band, evidence shows that he's clearly the one people follow/will continue to follow the most (evidence: D&T, D&F, solo stuff, etc). No one cared about Boyd's solo album and very few of people on here listen to Tim's solo stuff (which is a shame because a lot of Tim's stuff is great. So, what I'm getting at is that even though most say that they love the band as a whole, they're really only going to follow Dave when it's all said and done. No one's going to listen to the Boyd Tinsley Band, Carter Beauford, or Stefan Lessard Band (although that one would probably get some followers). It's just how it usually goes

it must suck knowing you've created a masterpiece in BTCS and also created mediocre music with ED, SU, and arguable, BW, because lets be honest, BW is not one of the bands best records. it's good, but music is all about staying power. the buzz from BW has worn off. 10 years from now, i don't see myself listening to DMB's music after BTCS, because it doesn't even compare. it's not even close.

I disagree with that very much. I'd say it's definitely one of the band's higher points
