    Re: Favorite beer of choice?

My neighbor went to New Jersey for the weekend to visit some friends and I asked him to look for a 4 pack of Carton Regular Coffee for me. It was a long shot, considering the hype this beer has garnered recently, but he actually came through and found some! Apparently, the brewery itself ran out yesterday, so it was a lucky find indeed!

Got to pop a can open last night and WOW, this is a unique beer! It's a 12 percent abv coffee cream ale, designed to taste like a "regular coffee", which is a apparently a Jersey thing where if you ask for a "regular coffee", you get a coffee with one sugar and two creams if I remember correctly. There was definitely an explosion of coffee and cream up front, with a boozy finish, although it didn't necessarily drink like a 12% beer (I would've guessed 7-8% abv). Anyone else in the Jersey area get to try this (Roose13?). Sorry, I can't provide a link to beeradvocate (blocked at work), but I believe it has a 96 rating over there which is well deserved in my opinion.

Always good to have friends/neighbors that travel! Carton also makes an ipa called 077X, which I hope to get from him the next time he takes a trip to Jersey. There is also another brewery in NJ called Kane, which is supposed to be making some great beer. Again, I hope that Roose13 or another poster from the NJ/NY area can chime in with more info, as I am definitely interested in trying more beer from the NJ scene.

    Cheers,
    Scott

Heard good things about both Kane and Carton. Some of the guys in my tasting group locally have had the IPA from Carton and were pretty pleased with it. Both breweries have been around for a couple of years....definitely on the rise....

I got a Boat Beer as an extra in a trade, wasn't a fan of it. So now it's a mental thing every time I see those orange cans I cringe.

Super Bowl week! Time to start planning what to drink on Sunday... I'm thinking about ordering a keg from of Hopzilla from Stark Mill Brewery and adjusting my co2 tank to 2psi less than normal for good luck.

I liked the idea of drinking Washington and Massachusettes beers available here until I realized it meant Rogue and Sam Adams would be my best options. I'm thinking it'll be an Indeed Daytripper day.

Damn, didn't even think of that... we better have power by Sunday! Wife and I bought a 70" TV for Christmas so I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. If no power, I guess we'll have to find a bar that's open!

Well, since rogue is from Oregon, that wouldn't make a ton of sense. Elysian (still not happy about that), no-li, red hook, and pyramid (blah) would probably be the biggest distribution breweries from here. Obviously there's much better than that, but mostly local stuff. Or you could just go with some Rainier

I don't think I'll be drinking a ton Sunday. I have an Upland tasting Saturday that will dominate my weekend drinking plans.

Doh! I knew Rogue was out of Oregon, but it showed up on a list of Washington breweries. Turns out it is just a brew house. I know you guys have a ton of great beer out there. It's just too bad we don't get any of it here.

It's just a great glass that suits many styles. Allows for great aroma retention...the base is wide and it narrows at the top then the lip flares out subtley. So it acts a little bit like a tulip but is also great for stouts because of its wide base. It's also a stem which keeps your hands off of the glass which helps keep the beer from warming up. Plus you just feel like a badass when you drink from one....which might be the best part.

Plus you just feel like a badass when you drink from one....which might be the best part.
The way the flared lip on the glass conforms to my lip as I drink was pretty awesome #beerglassporn #hardonforteku

Tekus are the best. Hoping UNC can hook it up with a surly one at some point! I have a FFF, Pipeworks, Deschutes, and Sun King so far.
