Guaranteed Rate field. That's a mouthful and terrible.

So will we be calling it "The Rate"?

I'm not disappointed the Giants didn't get a no-hitter. I'm just glad they had a pitcher go out and get a terrific performance (133 pitches). The defense played well (thanks Denard Span) and the offense played well to (thanks Joe Panik). I do hope this is the kick in the butt the Giants need to get back on track and reclaim the 1st place spot.

Fun Fact about last nights game. Joe Panik hadn't homered since the Giants game in Tampa Bay. The home run Joe hit in that game was off of now Giant Matt Moore. In that game Joe Panik was hit by a pitch Moore threw. About a week later Joe Panik was complaining about concussion symptoms and missed some games.

according to google, the 1998 Yankees clinched the division on August 29th, which was the earliest clinch date in MLB history.

they were 98-36 and had an 18.5 game lead on Boston

figured the '98 yanks would be on there, surprised though that august 29th is the earliest clinch date in history.

knowing that...an august 1st clinch date prediction for the cubs...
