What were you referring to in your post then? I guess I was/am confused.
To the rest, I know I was saying that about Islam. I think you, and a couple other people think I'm arguing something different than I am. As much as I may defend Muslims in some sense, specifically when the right is attacking them, I think all religions are equally stupid. So yes, I have no problem saying there are major problems that need to be fixed.
So my point (a point by the way that was a random post on a message board, so it's not some finished draft of a plan I've been devising for months
) was that look; radical islam is a huge problem. While we probably can't stop the source, we can try to stop the people it affects. If you're a muslim immigrant, can't find a great job, have no family here, only a few friends, etc life is probably already kinda shitty, even if it is 20 steps up from where you were born. But if that continues, and/or other people are treating you like a lesser human, you'll start to look for places to turn. Unfortunately, one of those places is clearly radical Islam. So I think it's important to see if there are any commonalities.
My very first post in this discussion probably touched on race a little heavy-handed, but that was a reaction to a dumb tweet someone posted. But the point still stands. If there's any evidence that people who have lived here for some time become violent after being treated poorly, then that's something to address. And if we look into it and find that absolutely nothing happened to these people and they were treated like anyone else, than you can all go ahead and laugh in my face for being wrong if that would make you feel better, but at least we'd know it's not a problem.
TL/DR: I think radical islam's message is one problem, people buying into it is another, separate one. They do not have the same solution(s) so we cannot treat them as the same thing. The former is not something a largely Christian nation can solve; they won't care what we say. The latter is something we can certainly look for patterns to potentially stop/alleviate.
