Official Howard Stern Show discussion thread

I've always wondered how many Ants are also die-hard Stern fans. DMB seems to be a band for people with an amazing sense of humor, so let's give it a shot.

This is the place to discuss anything Stern show related. Anything that happened on the show, ideas, stories, whatever. Completely open-ended.

Bitch about characters from the show i.e. Sal the Stockbrocker, Richard Christy, Eric the Midget, Benji, Gilbert or rant about your favorite characters: Beetlejuice, Hank, Jeff the Drunk, Artie , Ralph

Also if you're attending any Stern events, this might be a good place to hook up with fellow ants....

All opinions welcome

funny you write this, because i was watching just last night, and some intern played his guitar for simon cowell and howard compared the intern to dave. i definitely was not hearing the resemblence, but i think the fact that he had a guitar and sang immediately equated him to dave.

on another note though, I cannot get enough of artie. i think he is hilarious. one of my favorite artie moments is when they are in vegas doing the butter face contest and artie gets so wasted he has to be wheeled in a wheel chair back to his hotel room. classic stuff.

Nice thread. Love Stern. Will be getting Sirius. Stern and the NFL Network? Where do I sign up?

Did you here Staind do the Beetlejuice song this morning. It was fuckin' great. I seriously think they should record it. I love that song.

The beetlejuice song rocks. Would love Dave to perform it. I missed Staind's performance but caught Captain Sack and Commander Crack's appearance this week which was great. Gay chicken was great too.

Some great Artie stories: The Pig story, Last year's Vegas weekend (That E! show of him getting wheeled around, crashing into the wall and knocking on all the hotel doors calling everybody "faggots" was AMAZING".)

But my favorite Artie story is the bookie story. His friend and him are waiting at a McDonalds and his bookie is ready to throw a beating on "their families, their mothers" because of an illegal 6 team parlay.... and the guy has just come from church with ashes on his forehead church for Ash Wednesday.

I'll post the story in .mp3 if you guys want it.

I came to a conclusion a couple weeks ago that Artie has the greatest job in the world. He sits around does nothing, but talk, drink, and check out hot girls.

    I'm so jealous.

Wow, how is this such a lightweight thread around here? And I'm not even like a real hardcore, die-hard fan or anything, but I do like to listen quite a bit.

Anyway, for those even aware that he'd been recording stuff for a big 60 MINUTES piece/interview lately -- that didnt' air last night, did it? I'm leaning towards no since it's probably too soon, but I want to make sure I don't miss it, and I know it's certainly not gonna sit on a shelf for 2 months or something before they air it.

I don't really listen that much anymore. He seems to spend most of his time bitching about censorship and his move to Sirius. However, I do have Sirius and can't wait until he's on the air over ther.

Just heard a rumor on the Radio that Infinity has suspended Stern. The local show here that is on after Stern's was talking about it. No details/confirmation though.

I don't know why they haven't already. The last month has been nothing but an advertisement for his move and him badmouthing Infinity.

It could be because of all the times he a 50 Cent said "bitches" this morning.

I had Howard 100 on Sirius just now and there was no mention of a suspension.

They said that Sirius had confirmed it, but I also didn't hear anything on Howard 100 so I don't know what the deal is. Regardless, I'd rather them play "best of" or some other show at this point.

Actually I sorta wish for his sake that they would, because frankly I feel sorry for him. The reaching hand of censorship has gotten so ridiculously out of hand with everything they silence him on, and the whole way Joel (Gallen, I think his last name is) is behaving in the media makes him look unprofessional and like an idiot, just totally trashing Howard now and acting like it's the best thing that ever happened to their company, losing Howard. Yea, though like he says, Gallen begged him to renew his contract before he'd made the decision to move to satellite.

His final episodes have sold ad space for a record number. I guarantee the ads are sold with the condition that the final Howard Stern show(s) will be on the air. He will not be pulled off any stations unless the stations have already stated otherwise.

I actually think Leykis is entertaining, but he is nothing compared to Stern. The fact is, Leykis is extremely repetitive and you can pretty much mimic what he is going to say when a single mom calls or whatever. Still funny stuff and James Woods definitely ripped Leykis off the other week on Stern.

Side note: Months ago, Leykis bad-mouthed DMB and had callers call in saying how boring it was. On the Friday show, where they review the week, I was listening and was hearing more DMB bad-mouthing. So I called and got on. Instead of talking about how Carter is a good drummer or whatever, I decided to try to appeall to Leykis' 'beliefs'(there are hot girls at DMB show, DMB plays music similar to jazz, which Leykis likes). He basically said there are better ways to pick up hot girls(correct) and DMB is not jazz, it is boring. He then said they are like the Grateful Dead and only stoner hippies go to those shows and I told him that Phish is more like the Grateful and, in fact, most DMB fans are mad that they aren't more like Phish or the Grateful Dead more(which is to say, jambands and completely unpredictable setlists). I then told him DMB has the image of attracting frat boys, not stoner hippies. In the end, he said it was pussy music and I told him if that is pussy music, then what is Coldplay? He said super pussy music. I asked him to blow me up and he did. The end.

Also, BTW, Leykis will do anything for a buck. Just look at Boy's Night Out(a seat is more expensive than a DMB show). ALSO, his wine cellar show on the weekends is pretty cool, if for nothing than the production of the show and the fact that a guy who spends Monday-Friday holding the image of a male-chauvinist spends Sunday discussing fine wine(which he knows a lot about). Good stuff.

He does the same exact schtick with every female that calls in, with that annoying cackle of a laugh and his "reeeeeally!".... ugh He's a pathetic shadow of Howard Stern.

Has anyone heard the guest called "Evil David Letterman?" It could be the funniest guest I've ever heard. It's a guy who sounds IDENTICAL to Letterman, but he says the most offensive and racist things you've ever heard. I've been trying to find any mp3s of his performances of his, but I only have a couple.

An example of what he said, when he won an "F Emmy:"

"I'd like to thank the children cancer patients for their nice letters. They make great ammunition for my paper airplanes."
