Backstage Passes and/or Meet & Greet with DMB

How does one meet and greet with DMB or even get a backstage pass?

If it is different for different venues, if you can offer specific information about The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, that would be even better.

That is what I'd like to know. Apparently the Warehouse gives out meet and greet passes occasionally, but not to me.

I've been a WH member for about 1 year... so I guess that rules me out of getting them too.

Seems I've upset some people by posting this at both the WH and here... I just didn't know what site would provide the best information.

From what i gather there, the WH does a lottery or something for Meet & Greet passes. That sounds awesome! I'll start praying that I may win that lottery. :-D

you're never going to get a meet and greet. like 125 people a year get them and theres like 100,000+ WH members. and thats low-balling the WH member numbers. there could easily be twice as many, or more. you have like 0.05% chance of ever getting it.

I'll bet you a million bajillion dollars the OP ends up getting a Meet&Greet this summer, and puts that in his sig forever.

go to the warehouse boards page, the new page has it set up so you can search members by either name, or date joined. there are 2201 pages with 20 members per page.

    2201 x 20 ≈ 44,020 members

Thats pocket change for them in comparison to what they make in ticket sales. I forget the website but it showed how much they make a year and it was something like $24,000,000.

It was the Pollstar top 50 touring acts of the decade. DMB was #1 at 529.1 million gross..

there is not a chance in hell there's 100,000 WH members. Just think about that number for a minute. That's absurd.

The people next to me at a show last year were selected, couldn't do it, so the people next to them ended up getting the call. We were that close to getting selected. Surprised they just went down the row for replacements (got called a few days before the show I believe).

A backstage pass would be great. Standing in the dark 10 feet below stage level, told not to move inside the tape marks, ever. You even get a 5 second flash of the band flying by on their way to the stage. Rad!

when my sisters, a friend of mine, and i got a meet and greet in chicago in 08 we just went into the venue early to buy posters from the show. we sat in our seats and were just talking. then darrell came up to me and said that he was really happy i took my sisters and my friend to the show with me. So he gave us 4 meet and greet passes.

we got to talk to dave for like 15 minutes and he signed all of our posters.

I have no idea. But I do have a very cool, interesting story.

I actually used to live in the Woodlands and graduated high school from there. As a small part time job I worked at the pavilion and handed out lawn chairs- I wasn't 18 at the time, so I couldn't do backstage security.

However, DMB used to do 2nighters there and last time they did I was eligible to do overnight security between the two shows. So after the first show I raced to my car, changed, and headed back.

There were four of us "patrolling" that night (We basically just watched things so nothing got tampered with). And we took shifts. My first shift was in the hallway of the band's dressing room and I could see all of the guitars and could even smell the incense. This lady who travelled with the band let me take a picture of the dressing room- even though she wasn't supposed to- and said Dave had just rushed to see his girls that night.

My second shift sucked. Just in a little kiosk.

My third shift, I got to hang out on stage. The Stage. I took pictures of the setlist, still taped to stands and whatnot. I didn't dare sit at Carter's drums; Who would I think I was??

The coolest part was at one point this bald-headed light guy came up to work on the lights at around 2:30 or so. I went and talked to him for a bit just about the band, what I liked, etc. I offer to go get him a soda. He says no. He offers me a beer, I say yes and have a beer with the lighting guy from DMB.

    One of my greatest experiences

    Met Tim twice.

Once before Boone and then again, randomly, the night before the Chicago Dave and Friends in '03. Three of my buddies and I were hanging out in Chicago and ended up in one of the billion Starbucks downtown. One of my friends had never seen Tim except pics. I was telling him how small he was. He asked if he was as short as the guy putting sugar in his coffee against the wall in a big black coat. I said maybe and inch shorter. Guy turns around and it is Tim. My buddy had been in line next to him for like 10 minutes and said he had all this black crap on his fingers. We went and talked to him a little bit. It was pretty cool. He was really nice, but when I shook his hand I was afraid I'd break it and ruin the show. He's tiny.
