Re: SPINOFF: Do you WANT a new DMB album?

I want a new Dave solo album first but yes, I will always want to hear new music by a band I love.

If it's gonna have Be Yourself or other garbage like it, nope. I'd be good with AFTW being their final LP in that case.

If it's on the level of the '16 songs, I guess. I don't love any of those, but they don't give me McKayla Maroney face either.

Probably rather have them call it quits on new studio releases. It's pretty much a guarantee at this point that releasing another album would mean a majority of their catalog would consist of mediocre to downright awful songs. Hard to get excited about.

I somehow managed to see Belly Belly Nice 5 times in 7 concerts since the record came out. If Only I've seen 4 times and that's a snooze fest.

Although considering how much everyone seems to not care for SMLAM I've only managed to see it one time. Huh.

Idk, I guess. But what would comprise it at this point would not make for a good album.

I like Sam Cop and Bismark. The rest is meh at best.

Re: SPINOFF: Do you WANT a new DMB album?

Yeah, sure I do. I'm not itching for it by any means. I really don't listen to much DMB anymore. Haven't been to a show since 2009. I would certainly listen to it if it came out, and if it's good, that's awesome. Maybe I'll hit up a show again. And if it sucks, I just won't listen to it again, and will just not go to shows like the past few summers.

So my answer is yes, because best case scenario is that it's good, and worst case scenario is that it's a complete non-event in my life.

If there's one thing that's pretty consistent about DMB since BTCS, they'll get into the studio to work on those songs, write a whole bunch of new ones and the record will be the new material instead of the road tested stuff.

That's why I said scrapped or reworked. I was just listing the songs that would be eligible/likely on the best album at this point.

    Voted no.

Album tours with this band are subpar in general, and suffer even more when the album isn't great because you're guaranteed 8ish new songs a night. The output over the past couple years has been less than encouraging. Plus, with every new album the songs most of us actually want to hear get pushed further to the wayside.

Then again, I'll only see a couple shows a year at this point regardless so it doesn't really affect me much either way.

I'd like to hear a new album with Sam Cop and Bismarck and other songs along those lines

I don't care if DMB takes as long as it took for Darkness On The Edge Of Town to be recorded if it means we get a revitalizing album from the band. A new album by the band will nearly always be a release day pull for me.

This is a really good point.

But you're right too in that at this point, I'll see maybe two shows tops at this point. I've seen them enough times to have gotten everything (basically) that I'm going to get or want to get from them. It'll really be a matter of if they come close enough and is to where I can get there with ease.

While there have been some bad songs the past few years, they seemed to be just road testing them. They already stopped playing Plastic Girl and Be Yourself, so they're eliminating songs.
