Re: New York Giants

If the Giants are able to grab Collins if the Skins don't take him then their first two rounds would be outstanding as Collins appears to be a first round talent. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants grab Gregory if he's there, Reece is obsessed with value and I could see him taking a chance on Gregory based purely from a talent standpoint. But after the Will Hill fiasco I can also see them passing.

I still think they should trade up in front of the Redskins to take Collins. The guy is too good to pass up and they really do value the safety position highly.

Can't see them taking Gregory, that's just something this organization doesn't seem to do.

Definitely hope they can nab Collins though.

Great first two picks so far. Huge areas of need addressed early, now they can just go straight value.

Didn't check the NFL thread but Beatty tore his pec in the offseason lifting program and will be out 5-6 months. JFC, it starts already.

That doesn't worry me at all. It's been said from the get go he was going to be a project; this is just beating a dead horse at this point. Honestly think they should sign Jake Long in to take the pressure off him.

Training camp starts today! Pretty pumped for this season despite the crazy offseason where Beatty tears his pec bench pressing and dumbassPP blew his damn hand off.

Looks like Cruz really will be ready for the start of the season barring a setback and OBJ made it through the conditioning test without pulling a hamstring (small miracle in itself).

Giants had Jake Long in for another visit but they appear to be passing on signing him but they did just sign James Jones, my guess is as a solid backup if either the above WRs get themselves hurt.

I was nervous seeing you bump this thread...definitely thought the injury count rose to 1.

Schwartz sat out yesterday with foot soreness. Giants need him to be healthy this year.

I don't understand why the Gmen don't get Evan Mathis in. Cap Room is there and this line cannot stay healthy. Are we really going to pretend John Jerry is a reasonable player to start ever?

    That was disgusting.

The sad part is that we only had a chance in this game because of sloppy play on Dallas' part.

I just don't want to look back on the season, having missed the playoffs by one game, and think about the many what-if scenarios in this game.

    Re: New York Giants

Now that I'm a little more calm, some thoughts from last night...

Even though clock management was HORRIFIC, which we all know, I'm much more frustrated with this pass rush. ONE SACK last night during that final drive ends the goddamn game. They couldn't get any pressure on Romo all day. Sure, you can put some of it on playing the best OLine in the game, but I honestly don't think that makes much of a difference.

Another huge frustration for me was all of the freaking drops by the WRs, particularly Parker's 3 drops on third down passes. That just can't happen to a professional.
The OLine actually played pretty well all things considered...they only gave up one sack and Flowers got his ankle rolled up on pretty good. The run game looked pretty decent in general even though Vereen didn't do anything terrible impressive.

On a few positive notes, the OLine looked pretty good all things considered, especially when Flowers got his ankle rolled up on and was hobbled throughout the rest of the game. I also thought the secondary looked great...those last two drives were basically all on the LBers unable to cover backs and TEs.

God, what a backbreaking loss. I expected the Giants to get blown out... but because of their defense. Overall, the O looked pretty plain/unimpressive.

Preston Parker should have a pink slip waiting in his locker this morning. Clock management probably cost you the game, but he's the reason it was even possible for you guys to blow the game IMO.

He was just terrible. Not sure how they thought he would be better than James Jones.

I mean I follow the Giants pretty closely because of where I'm located so I know Corey Washington had some issues with being dumb... but is he really worse than Parker?

And yea, cutting James Jones in favor of Parker wasn't smart. Maybe they just wanted a slot guy until Cruz is healthy?

I think your last point is the real reason he made it over Jones...Parker knows the system better and was probably more ready for a full role in the slot than Jones once they realized Cruz was going to miss a few games.

I also think they like Parker better on special teams than Jones; they seem to be putting a big emphasis this year on ST players, which actually looked pretty good last night all in all.

I'm not sure who's on the practice squad but if Washington is, like you said, Parker should get his pink slip. I'd rather have a younger guy out there developing than Parker who's really just a fill-in player.

Dwayne Harris looked like a waste of money IMO. Punt/kick coverage looked great though.
