Re: *The Official Tennis Thread*

Bouchard out in the 1st round! Read that she has lost 8 of her past 9 matches. She better right this ship quick or she will become just another name on a long list of players with loads of talent that flamed out quickly. I think a good first step would be to get a coach again.

Wow 8 of 9?? That's crazy. I know a lot of people were angered by her earlier this year when she refused to shake an opponents hand. She did so well last year. Pretty surprising.

Halep out in the 2nd round, basically paving the way for a Serena v. Maria final on the women's side.

Serena gotta get through Vika in round 3. Won't be easy if Vika healthy.

Serena holds a 15-3 head-to-head over Vika, so as much as I would like to see Vika pull it off, not going to hold my breath. And another top 5 women's seed out... Wozniacki lost today. Liking how the draw is setting up for Madison Keys. She is in the same bracket as Kitova who is not comfortable on clay. She could run into Serena in the semis, if all the matches play out that way.

My man Monfils was down 4-1 in the fourth set to Pablo Cuevas and ended up winning it in five sets. Wow. A Davis Cup-like atmosphere in that last set at Roland Garros.

How Monfils survives his matches is beyond. Almost like the guy wants to play 5 sets every match. As a fan, 5th set is unreal, but have to think as a player the toll is pretty high when you get too many of those under your belt.

Some decent matches today, but the coming days looks amazing on the men's side. Some potential mouth watering match ups in the quarters and semis.

I'm really excited as well, going to be some fantastic tennis hopefully. Also-Murray, Djovich, and Nadal all on same side of the draw is insane!!!

Didn't get a chance to watch yesterday, but sounded like the Tsonga match was pretty damn good. Read a column about how Roger should start to consider hanging it up after his lost yesterday. Yeah the guy is 33, and no longer untouchable, but he is still #4 in the world and can beat anybody on any given day.

I think he has a real shot at winning the most slams ever. He is in his prime, easily the best player out there, and his health is excellent.

Wow, Djokovic just steam rolled Rafa. Wasn't ever in doubt. Will go out and limb and say if, if, Djokovic does go on to win the French, it will be more impressive then when Roger won his. Why? Because Djokovic had to go through Rafa. When Roger won, Rafa was ousted in the semis by Robin Soderling. Beating the best of your generation on their favorite surface in route to a Slam win just adds extra flavor to the win.

True although his win over Rafa was Rafa at his absolute worst. Rafa in prime at French=unbeatable

Agree, but this the red clay that Rafa, even at his worst, has owned and come up big on for the last decade. Kind of like Pete Sampras on the grass. He could be sucking all year, then he hits Wimbledon and it all changed. That was until about 2000, then the wheels started to come off.

True. Curious to see if Murray can push Novac at all. Maybe get a set off him, but prob not more....Warinka vs Tsonga could be fun.

Of the last 4, but rooting for Novak, but anyone of them could prevail. Would not have said that about Murray prior to his earlier win on clay this year. He has impressed me the most this year, seems to have really rounded out his game. Seems like working with Mauresmo has been a 100% positive for him. Wawrinka is just scary good, is always there in the end, and seems to have found the knack for winning the tough matches. Tsonga is rallying with the home support, so this could be his turn.

Novak storms out to 2-0 lead, Murray take the third, all square in the fourth then the rains came. This type of sh*t always favors the underdog as they get to right the ship and calm down.

Serena is unreal. 20 Grand Slams is a massive accomplishment. Was a fun final to with Safarova making that comeback in the 2nd. I expect Novac to win mens in 4 sets at the max. He's just too good. He's also extremely motivated because he's never won the French.

Although not a fan of Serena, do have to give credit where credit is due. Not out of the question to see her win the calendar slam this year. There is just no one in the women's game that can match up with her.

For the men's final, agree with Novak winning. Stan will not roll over but after watching what Novak did to Rafa, I just can't see Novak not achieving history today.
