2) you must not have read my response or not comprehended it. The knowledge it had been rehearsed (you assume I didn't know the people with whom this info was shared) that summer was why I started the campaign.

3) you said the twitter campaign had no effect because you spoke to someone on 11/17 or 11/18 and that person mentioned it had been rehearsed. Considering Dave teased the song twice the show prior to cville and the sheer amount of people tweeting Stefan that maybe it had an impact?

4) it was a twitter campaign for one song - the entire cville thread that year narrowed it down from a song list I made (Blue Water was a close #2). When I reference the # of tweets, those were tweets that mentioned spoon and no other song, all with the same hashtag.

5) what makes me laugh most is that you and others like dmbzilla - who used to be very kind to me - claim I seek recognition when your entire argument is that you, "and those in the know" spoke to a source, therefore thousands of tweets could not have been heard.

If anything, you're seeking recognition if not for anything but knowing "someone in management". If anyone deserves recognition, it's thousands of people who tweeted to Stefan.

And fyi - more than a couple people who would be "in the know" have PMed me asking to start other twitter campaigns and I have always declined.
I'm glad you numbered your points so I can quickly calculate that's five more things nobody gives a fuck about.

I'm pretty sure it is the latter, even though DMB has been kind enough and realistic enough in the past to treat two night stands as mostly the same crowd.
With this point, can you explain why the Gorge get 3 nights? Seattle is the closest big city and it isn't even in the top 20 largest cities in the US.

Gorge is popular destination venue, no? People travel from all over to attend shows there. I would say its the same deal, just slightly different circumstance.

I have nothing against you at all man, but to say you aren't seeking recognition when you've had something about it in your sig for four years? Come on now.

They played Halloween at PSU in 2000 solely because of my sign, which I think is pretty fucking cool. If you think you had an impact own that shit.

I meant was there more to it than that, like Dave recognizing the sign and immediately playing it, or saying something before hand, or something.

    Good Good Time
    Pay
    Back You Up
    Beach Ball
    Red Bird
    Whiter Shade
    Burning Down
    Sledgehammer
    Raven
    American Baby
    Rye Whiskey
    Stolen Away
    Minarets
    Christmas Song

out of those 15, 4 are not dmb songs, 3 of them are Dave Solo's, and 4 more have been played 3 times of less...Leaving Minarets, Stolen Away, GGT, Pay, and IBYU as our only 5 DMB songs that are in "heavy rotation" (5 or more plays) this tour that were not played in 2013 (Minarets and GGT being the only of those five appearing in the electric sets.)

So for those that feel that the 2014 electric sets are unvaried and look exactly the same as last year, they would be right, because the only two songs that were not played last tour that have showed up more than 3 times in the electric sets are minarets and GGT, which is really fucking sad. This shows me that they are only playing what they're familiar with and have no real desire to dig deep and take risks.
Good post. I am on the other side of the fence but you present a good argument for the lack of variety in the setlists.

    Re: Stefan's Twitter

God I don't know how anyone can make the argument "the newer songs.. play better..?"

what tf does that mean you ask? Well, kind sirs, it means that this band is indeed fucked.. because they won't practice. Honestly, how hard is it to play songs that you, yourself wrote. Yes... Leroi died, and Butch is gone, and now there's Jeff, and Rashawn, and Boyd's [pubes/] hands, and yattayattayatta blahblahblahhhh.

The fact of the matter is, the band, whether Dave or Stefan, is mailing in setlists. The band started with the acoustic sound! Now you're telling me they can only pull under 40 unique songs out in the acoustic sets PLUS only 3 songs played more than 5 times that didn't appear last year in the electric set...!!! are you kidding? I was at SPAC so I made it out before Hurricane Lovely Lady touched down. But Bela was the only bright light I saw. I was trying to defend the band earlier this year, but it has gotten down right stale for being able to potentially put 30 songs in a set a night.

When two night stands receive more unique plays (45 or so songs) then the almost 40 acoustic shows (38 unique songs), there is a problem. It's not that we're owed anything, but I think this quote says it best and may have been over looked...

This. We (many of the ants I see thousands of posts from and converse with daily...) probably know the band too well for our own good, yet, at the same know their full potential better than anyone due to countless tapes. I'm sure we all have a our own favorite years, but I guarantee they're pre-2001 or certainly pre-2005.

When you're DMB, you must live up to your own name. This band needs to prove to me that they are still the best live act in town. Or I will continue to go to fewer shows and happily shell 1/3 of the price for a Umphrey's ticket.

yup, then I joined in on it.

But the part of it that irks me is the .1% comment when we make up more than that of the fanbase, but also, we're the people that pay at least 60% of their revenue through multi-show tickets, vip passes, deluxe editions the average fan would never get, all the live trax/dmblive.

WE ARE BIGGER THAN THE .1%!!!!!!!!1!!!

Because we know they can play better stuff than what they've been playing lately. I love the band too don't get me wrong but they have other songs to play besides "the usual & predictable sets."

I paid good money to see just 3 shows in Florida (Jax and N1&N2 WPB). The Jax show was fine. Nothing earth shattering but I left feeling satisfied by the 25 song show. By the end of N2 (just 3 days after Jax) they had repeated 21 songs from Jax. That's not okay. That's lazy. The encore N2 was 2/3 the same as Jax and the one they didn't repeat there closed the night before iirc. It's not mundane to feel like you aren't getting value for your money. If I buy a product and am unhappy with the performace of it, I have the right to get worked up. Feeling ripped off isn't nonsense. This band is ripping people off who go to multiple shows this summer. Those people are keeping the venues full and keeping them from playing the Holiday Inn by the interstate. And the band (Dave) doesn't give one big fat shit.

The whole playing at hotel talk is nonsense and completely misguided. While I agree with the large majority of the complaints this summer, there is no way this band will ever be playing "at the holiday Inn by the interstate"

    Really?

    It's meant as a metaphor.

You seem to be the only person meaning it as a metaphor. It's been tossed around here the last two weeks way too nonchalantly by many people.

I find it hard to believe that anyone uses that phrase in a literal sense around here. I mean what Holiday Inn in what part of America has live music?! It's not 1974.
