    Bingo.

As long as he plays like 02-04 then that's fine, but 05-07 he was too much. Personally if Tim doesn't tour one year, I'm fine with just the 6 remaining members. Butch would slow things down too much with certain songs, imo.

I'm not sure why some people think this is even an option. They have now written and released two albums in the last few years featuring him heavily and prominently. Put simply, COULD NOT PLAY big whiskey or aftw songs if he just 'took a year off'.
He has also taken to layering and replacing Dave's need to play guitar as much.

If Tim doesn't play, Dave isn't playing. You can be sure of that. There is no 'If Tim Leaves' or 'If he took a year a off'. Let's get that straight.

Much better than what it sounds like today.
While that's an awesome grey st. (as awesome as it can be while missing a part of the song) there's definitely more than a 5 piece on that stage haha.

    Butch Taylor is real
The DMB tour dates are real

Google's algorithm to combine the two is real, but wrong.

the vast majority never had issues with 1998-2004 butch. it was the 06-07 butch that sucked.

and most wanted tim back, and i was among them. then around 2009 he became overpowering, loud and obnoxious and ruins some songs. the same way that butch did. like it or not, some of you noobs the band was at its best when butch was at his best guesting.

I spent the first years of going to shows praying for Tim. One year enjoying Tim. And now 6 years wishing Butch would come back.

It says a lot that many admit this.

But Tim won't change and butch would probably come back to 06-07 form. That's why I've been saying I want a 5 piece to return.

It'll force guys to care again. Dave can't swing the guitar to his back and do some stupid forced dance anymore. Dave would be able to play solos and his normal fills that sometimes is played by tims crunchy loud annoying guitar. Boyd would have to play good and Jeff can finally shine on his own. It won't happen, but it should.

This band lost their sound not only with Roi's absence, but Butch's absence. He made the band sound so much fuller and nicer on the ears. Now they just sound like a rock band

Agreed. It seems some people won't admit this, or they just prefer the rock sounding DMB more.

BUT, Tim has been playing more subtly since around the time AFTW was released (i.e. LT 29 sounds great).

I agree with most of this. Butch was awful in the 05-07 period. I will say however, that I think a big part of the reason Tim was so lould 09-10 was a result of the overall sound of the BW songs and Cavello's producing. That whole album has a much more rock sound too it than any other DMB album.
