Score is 7-6
Team that had 7 just scored. Making it 13-6. Why not go for 2 making a 9 point game where they need two drives to tie. Rather than kick the extra point- and only be up by 8. Or worse comes to worst miss and still be up 7.

But following the same logic of coaches being conservative, you almost never see the bolded. If you are only down 7, coaches always take the XP and overtime. They dont want the game to come down to one play, especially if they believe they have the better team and staff in OT.

As a sidenote, is there any research into how many teams down by 8 score a TD but miss/convert the 2pt? By "feel", it seems that teams convert that 2pt to tie very often.

Im only looking at that scenario specifically tho, not looking for overall "conversion" rate on 2pt tries
