I love the remote feature of the galaxy s5. At my old apartment complex's gym, I would use it to discreetly change the television channel or turn the volume down when someone was watching something with it turned way up

I also use it when we stay at my in-laws' house for the tv and Dish box in our room. The stock app is great because it lets you browse the current programs on your phone and tap to go to it. Much like the guide on the tv just easier to use of course.

are you talking about like what Tony Stark pulled in the beginning of Iron Man 2 when he was at the senate hearing? He whipped out his phone, sort of held it in his eye line in front of the big screen TV, hit some buttons and then he was controlling the TV? what was playing on his cell was broadcasting on the big TV


and yea someone else mentioned solar, I'm surprised now I think about it that hasn't been developed yet (at least as a "you can do one or the other with this phone" sort of thing)

The phone will not operate at all while the vehicle they're in is moving, no phone calls (except 911), no texting, no nothing. I'd also like to see any app maker be held liable for creating an app that would disable the hibernate mode on phones. The mode is for safety reasons and will only help drivers not use their phone while driving. Now, if you're a public transportation person, you can connect to a limited range wifi that disables the hibernate mode. You'll need a password to connect to the wifi. The driver of the bus or subway will gladly give the password in exchange for the fare you pay to ride.

Both of these things exist. The mobile site one is done through the chrome app. There is a checkbox in settings for "request desktop site". I personally don't use it because you find out pretty quickly that 90% of sites have better mobile sites than desktop on a phone, but the option is there if you need it.

As for the remote, samsung galaxy's have this. The app to use it is called peel smart TV remote. It has an IR blaster that you can use to control your TV/Comcast, and I think DVDs (I haven't owned a dvd player in years). I have it set up for 6 different locations too. So whenever I go back home, my roommates lose the remote, etc, I can just switch on the app. Also doubles as a TV guide if you're using a box that doesn't have guide built in. Really a great app.

Quick google search and it seems they have tried, although unsuccessfully. http://techcrunch.com/2013/04/23/inf...by-shaking-it/ Old article from 2013 working on it for the iphone 4. Was funded by a kickstarter campaign that only got 13k/155k pledged. I agree it would be an awesome feature, especially in an emergency situation if you just need 5% battery to make a call, load a map, etc. Maybe it was difficult to implement, expensive, bulky, too product-specific? Not really sure why it never took off.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not but jesus christ would that be a 2nd amendment nightmare. That takes the concept of concealed carry and just flips it on its head. Personally I don't think it would be a bad thing. But it would take a lifetime to get us there.

It's possible yeah but the app needs a $150 add on to most garage doors. It's far from universal. Same with unlocking the car. Need to drop $$ on the car first. I have an old car. It's not possible.

I believe someone, probably Musk, is working on a charger that's the next step beyond a charging pad. So you won't even have to put it down, it's just charging through space or whatever I dunno

I was just talking about this with my gf. I think hologram shit is only 5-10 years away. It's the next logical "cool" tech, I think, especially based on the live music stuff happening.
