Completely agree. It is a shame that it took so long for them to do a true R version of the character....although I guess it is a great way for it to go out.

With Deadpool doing well, and this one on track to do well, it really shows that R rated superhero films can perform. I really hope this leads to a good R rated Batman film.

I don't think Batman needs to be R-rated, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it.

Oh, I think an R rated Batman flick would be awesome. If they did The Killing Joke, anything with Victor Zsasz, a Black Mask villain film, something with Deacon Blackfire, a movie centered around Strange as a villain, even something with Penguin. I mean, it's possible

They could even do A Lonely Place Of Dying, Hush, Knightquest, a Death in the Family, Son of the Demon, or even an Arkham centered film.

I'm really hoping it eventually finds its way to Jackman's eyes. after I first saw the link on twitter I sent one copied to both him and Patrick Stewart, but who knows

    Re: The Wolverine (2013)

I saw a BTS still from the set of Logan earlier, one where they had some sort of practical claws for Hugh Jackman to have on his hands for the moment, so not just all CGI'd in later. But then it hit me, the logistics of having those claws in there. Looking at them when they're fully out and spiked, well it would seem that when they're then full retracted into his body, the one end of the adamantium blades would need to be a good 4-5 inches at least down below his wrists. So, when Logan doesn't have them poking out, technically then he shouldn't be able to move his wrists all in any sort of curling position, I mean in relation to his forearm. because the adamantium doesn't bend at all, and they lay along that whole area of where the joints are.

Maybe they are stored in his forearms? God, I don't know. I've heard that mentioned before and it's a definite glitch in the comic book world.

EDIT: I mean, to support my original thought of his claws being in his forearms, it is painful for him to pop his claws every time. Maybe that's because he's not only breaking skin but he's severing bone, nerves and muscle in his hands that quickly are repaired due to his healing factor.

daaaaaaaaamn! I didn't remember the little live-feed extra X-ray shot there from in the movie, but that's pretty damn sweet. But okay, so when they're fully retracted within his body, they go so far down the insides of the forearm so the tip doesn't interfere with the wrist joint at all, it stops just short. Makes sense.
And yea as has been mentioned, it hurts him every damn time they have to come out, I remember he says that to Rogue right after he picks her up and driving away in his truck together. However Logan can also like sort of start to extend them, but not fully all the way, do it to where the end of the blades come right to the inner edge of his knuckles skin, without breaking thru and bleeding. Best I can recall, that's the main way he's beating all those local yocals in the dive bar, when he's working in the steel cage in XM1. He hits them with a balled up fist and the blades right behind the skin, it's practically the equivalent of a regular dude getting punched by another dude but this one's got a roll of quarters in his fist. And so of course he opens out his hands and they see no "contraband", the locals can't figure out how the hell he did it

oh and almost forgot, another sort of logistics thing hit me. HOW exactly do they in fact come out? It is like a mind/body are in sync type of thing, so he just imagines he wants him out so they dart out. or maybe some particular muscle movement he's gotta do with this forearm to activate when to poke out (not unlike how when way back in Raimi's Spiderman they decided to ignore the comics in so far as his webshooters would be organic out of his wrists (not a mechanical device that Pete constructs being a bloody genius, and they're having him do that in the MCU now).
or is it like an entirely emotional passage trigger.
Although, shiiiiiiiiiit... if that's the case, hope it doesn't include sexual arousal...

no no, you misunderstand. see I just can't help but approach the world via logic, that's just how my brain works. I'm not saying there needs to be some empirical explanation here for things to be 'okay' for me to accept the character and not feel like they're cheating or something, not at all. It's just an amusing thing to ponder for 10 seconds, thats all.

so, is there something more to having the movie be like that than if I simply turn off the color bar on my TV when watching it the original way?

If they're doing a black and white release, it's probably more than that. To capture the noir look they're probably tweaked it more than just turning off the color, to give it more depth.

well and I tell ya, this didn't occur to me until a couple weeks back, I think helped along by the copious amount of vacation photos that Hugh Jackman's been happily posting on his twitter. But I don't think it can be overstated the incredible job that the makeup department did on Logan. because you see all those candid, real life photos of him and remember, oh right, the guy actually still looks pretty damn young, and awesome for his age. like there's so many subtle things the crew did on that film to make him look SO much older, but have it play very naturally. like well beyond simply him having a full, normal beard and a much different haircut than you're used to seeing Wolverine have in all this span of movies.
