I think it's important to report on the person because in many cases it can give people signs to look for in their friends and family, as well as coworkers. The more we can learn about these people the more we can learn about who they are, their methodology, their thought processes, their influences, etc.
I don't think they should grace magazine covers, that seems to put them in the martyr category.
