What about "Let It Be . . . Naked"? I think that is miles ahead of what Phil Spector did to the album. Also, one of John's best songs is on the album, Across the Universe (the non adjusted one on LIBN is better than just LIB). Then you can't put down the songs Let It Be and Get Back, two of the best songs McCartney has ever done. Also, the one left off LIB but put back on LIBN (Don't Let Me Down) is a great song.

Let it Be, bar a couple songs, is horrible. Let it Be...Naked, may even be worse. It's not Spector's fault that Beatles had run out of creative steam, and hated each other at that point. It may be his fault that he wasn't Martin though, and couldn't get them all to stop being assholes and make Abbey Road though.

In light of this thread, hopefully you're not referring to Mark David Chapman.

umm....what!?! Let It Be naked is much better than the original, first off. Second of all, if one were to compile a list of the top beatles songs, half the album would be on that list, guaranteed. Long and Winding Road, Across the Universe, Let It Be, Two of Us, and I Me Mine, Get Back would be close if not on it. And for basically being jams, Dig a Pony, Don't Let Me Down, and I've Got a Feeling are awesome fucking songs.

Long and Winding Road, Across the Universe, and Two of Us are snoozers. Let It Be and Get Back are cool though, kinda. Get Back get's pretty damn old after a while.

Let's see from a musical standpoint we have...

    Two of Us
    = great song
Dig a Pony = bad song
Across the Universe = outstanding song
I Me Mine = good song
    Dig It
= cool, fun, rockin minute long filler thingy
Let It Be = great song
Maggie Mae = good fun nonsensical tune minute long song that has been around for over a hundred years (not written by the Beatles)
    I've Got a Feeling = great song
One after 909 = good song
The Long and Winding Road (LIBN version) = great song
For You Blue = good song
    Get Back = outstanding song

Don't Let Me Down = outstanding song

    3 outstanding songs
    4 great songs
    3 good songs
    2 fun little filler thingies
    and only 1 bad song

I'd say that's a nice collection of Music.

I'm sorry to be a pompous cock, but if you don't like those songs then you must "not like music". Those 3 songs that are "snoozers" are full of emotion. Across the Universe brings tears to my eyes. The Long and Winding Road has some fantastic piano work by Paul.

Hmmm, maybe like . . . me? *looks at all his piles of books, DVDs, and magazines*

John was in no way perfect. He made many mistakes, but he was no asshole. He did bad things, and was subject to his temper, or when he was drunk during his "Lost Weekend" period. But the guy was human, susceptible to eveything we are to. Inside the man, was a person who wanted nothing more than to have his dream of world peace bear fruit, to love and be loved, and to have his mother back. If John was a true asshole, the conservative political cartoonist who visited John & Yoko's "Bed In" he would beat the shit out of the guy. The guy was provoking him, insulting Yoko and her daughter (right next to him) trying to get him to hit him, but John sat there and talked with him rationally. Why would Paul keep coming back to John and visiting him in the 70's if he was just an asshole? Why when George Harrison blew up at him after one of George's Dark Horse shows about not joining in the Concert For Bangladesh, he just stood there and took it.

If you say John was just an asshole, you don't know John.

I guess nobody here listens to music pre-1991.

OK, I disagree that BW is on the same level as Sgt. Pepper, but it is a solid album. However, if anyone here says that the album is better than Dark Side of the Moon, well you'll be saying hello to my little friends...
