I believe that's simple subtraction. If the sum of all points scored by players on the Western Conference is greater then the sum of all points scored by players on the Eastern conference team. Then the West wins!

Swap Mo Williams for Iverson and I have to agree. West isn't too shabby either.

I was watching the game from 2000 with the Garnett/Shaq/Duncan front three and Kobe/Kidd (in his prime) in the back. THAT'S ridiculous.
