I could see that. You couldn't really call it an Arizona home game, but there were clearly less Duke fans there, which kinda helps Arizona when they're going on huge runs dunking on people.

You're telling me that a 22-year old was fatigued when he hadn't played a game four days? I'm not buying that. I get the point that it was a pro-Zona environment, but don't think fatigue had anything with last night.

especially playing arizona and not texas. i don't think the time change had a factor. they were there for over a week before the game, or should have been.

I think a trip across country a day or two before playing factors in somewhat.

I don't think Duke was in California until Tuesday night. That's the day Kyrie was supposed to be on the DP Show but he was in class, then had to go to practice/treatment right after, so he couldn't call in.

I hate tired and travel arguements. Teenagers travel across the country to play 8 games a weekend in AAU 6 times a year. A 22 year old can handle a plane ride and then playing a game

Ehh, I disagree. Arizona simply wanted it more in the second half. They were more aggressive, not more fresh.

I've flown cross country before, I'm 24 and I was only out of it for a day, day and a half at most. The biggest thing for me was being sleepy at 10pm the first day after that forst day of sleep you're fine. unless you're out all night.

Were you practicing for a few hours after you got there and then playing a college basketball game though?

For most people, myself included, flying across country takes a toll on you. That's why whenever we go on vacation we leave two extra days for travel because when you get there, you're useless.

There has to be some reason why #1 seeds suck out West.

the game was at 6:55 PST. If you're tired then, there's no hope anyway.

I think the bigger issue was nolan's lack of direction with kyrie back.

I really think the travel and time change has something to do with it - maybe even more so the time change. Think about it for those Duke players that game started around 10 - 7 for the Arizona team - plus Duke had to travel much further. That does have an impact on you - athlete or not - everyone has an internal clock

I really don't think it was an issue. Seems more of an excuse for Nolan's piss poor play. Either way, I don't blame Coach K for putting the ball in Kyrie's hands. When he plays, he's their best player and he proved it last night when he was the only one doing anything aside from Singler's hot start.

    actually:

arizona was playing in Oklahoma, so the body clock change is 2 hours. Duke was in north carolina, so it was 3 hours.

    time change shouldn't matter.

Not really. I never was saying it was an excuse, I just think it does factor into how you play as a team. Nolan was hopeless no matter what. He went back to playing like he did his Freshman year.

i thought duke looked great in the first half, aside from nolan. I think Arizona realized they were bigger and went to town. Duke was up 10-11. It's not like AZ had this thing from the get go, Duke just collapsed like Clemson in Chapel Hill.

You think that the time change had a bigger impact than Smith playing a different role in the offense than he had all year? This does not compute in my brain.

I'm really worried about the ohio state game tonight. Everyone is talking about them as if they're unbeatable - they're offense can't be stopped blah blah blah

thats the type of thing people start saying to guarantee a loss

if we lose tonight we might as well not bother coming in here
Meh, I'm really not trying to rub it in. As someone whose life is consumed by hatred though, I'm absolutely ecstatic when the thing I hate the most (i.e. Duke Men's Basketball) fails. If nothing else, a loss tonight would just mean that we suffered one less day of misery than Duke fans.

It's not as if I'm expecting a title run anyway, but I can tell you that I feel a lot better about playing Zona/UConn than I would Duke if the Heels do somehow advance to the Final Four.

The result of the UNC/Marquette game will also decide my rooting interest in the later game. If UNC wins, I'm obviously for UK. If UNC loses, I'll be rooting of Ohio State.
