Re: ** 2016-2017 Sports Wagering Thread **
"California Chrome drew the 12 spot. It's a tough hole. First, since 2006, when the Gulfstream track was reconfigured, horses racing at the 1 1/8th mile distance and breaking from the 12 hole are 1 for 18. Think about that for a second. It's eleven years. Eighteen horses. One win.
Chrome will have to give it some gas for that eighth of a mile.
Bluegrass Wise Man ™: That, or break to find his spot almost as fast. What he doesn't want to do is be forced to run wide. But let's talk about what the distance means. At a mile-long track, if the finish line is to the end of the stretch, then the gate will be an eighth of a mile behind that. So that's gonna mean two football fields and a bit to the turn. Chrome is a big horse, let's say he covers an average of 20-feet per full stride, or just under 7 yards. In other words, at 220 yards, Chrome's got just thirty strides, give or take, to figure himself out. By contrast, at the Breeders' – which is the last time these two horses met—he had twice that, sixty strides or probably more. That's why the Pegasus is such a jockey's race. Lotta tactics gonna have to be jammed into the first twenty seconds." - via an article in Forbes
Chrome is 6-5 and the other fave is Arrogate at 7-5. Arrogate drew the 1 hole which is perfect for him cuz he likes to be up front. I think there's some big value in three other horses:
Neolithic in post 3 at 30-1
Shaman Ghost in post 7 at 20-1
Keen Ice in post 9 at 12-1
All three have stud jockeys today.
My plays today:
Perfecta box 3,7,9
Trifecta box 1,3,7,9,12
Superfecta box 1,3,7,9,12
Win bets on the 3,7,9
fingers crossed
