Some of the best music you'll ever hear. Truckers put Southern Rock in a whole other stratosphere. They are legends in my book.

Jason's show at the Ryman on Friday was absolutely great! Very interesting seeing the crowd sit down for almost the entire show. Amanda Shires opened up and she was incredible as well. They may be one of the most talented music couples I can think of.

    Setlist for Friday's show was:
    Southeastern (straight through)
    Encore:
    Decoration Day
    Outfit
    Go it Alone
    Mutineer (w/ Amanda Shires)

    Saturday Show:
    Go it alone
    Street lights
    Tour of duty
    Dress blues
    Never gonna change
    Stockholm
    Danko
    Diff days
    Traveling alone
    Live oak
    Bama pines
    Cover me up
    Relatively easy
    TVA
Sunshine of your love (dedicated to passing)
    Decoration day
    Outfit
    E
    Flying over water
    Super 8

Looks like a couple of great Isbell shows Jason! Southeastern in full would have been a real treat to see. How was the Ryman as a venue? Hoping it lives up to all the hype, seeing DBT there on Thursday night.

I did as well. I can't remember if I've seen it before the other night, if I have it was maybe once or twice. When they busted into it I literally started jumping up and down.

Great night at the Ryman in Nashville on Thursday! Fun set, cool guests. The only letdown was they had to cut the encore short (only 3 songs) due to a hard 11 PM curfew. John Oates came out to guest on 'Everybody Needs Love' which was really cool. The acoustics at the Ryman are really just about perfect, it was a great sounding show. Patterson mentioned that the band had a lot of family and friends come up for the show including his dad, who I was hoping would come out to guest but didn't.

    Setlist:

    Bulldozers and Dirt
    A Ghost to Most
    The Living Bubba
    Til He's Dead or Rises
    Daddy Needs a Drink
    Women Without Whiskey
    Pauline Hawkins
    Made Up English Oceans
    Sink Hole
    Shit Shots Count
    Everybody Needs Love (w/John Oates)
    Marry Me
    Used To Be A Cop
    Where The Devil Don't Stay
    Box of Spiders
    Pulaski, TN
    Tornadoes
    Primer Coat
    Let There Be Rock
    ------------------------------
    Birthday Boy
    Zip City
    Grand Canyon

New email update for those not on the list. The bolded makes me excited!

    "Y'all,
Guess 2014 is in the homestretch now and it's been a good one overall in DBT World.
Thanks again to all who have come out to shows, bought our records and otherwise supported our band this year. We've had a pretty amazing time and we're gearing up to end it with quite the bang.

Next week we are traveling to San Francisco to play a three night stand at The Fillmore.
One of the world's most amazing venues in one of the world's most beautiful cities. We are beyond psyched to end our year of touring there. All three nights will be opened by the unbelievably great Sturgill Simpson. His album is one of the best of the year and we're beyond honored to have him sharing our bill that weekend. Tickets are moving fast and it's gonna sell out so don't get left behind.

We are planning quite the blowout for these last shows of the year. David Barbe is flying out with his super-talented son Henry to record the proceedings for that long awaited DBT Live Album we've been wanting to do for 14 years now. We've been prepping and planning for months and the time is at hand.

After next weekend, the Rock Show will be a little bit more scarce for a while as we're planning on doing some different things for a while next year. DON'T MISS!!!"

never got into that track, IMO that's when the album loses momentum

finally hearing that full recording of the Alabama reunion show. so good.

Isbell totally dwarfs the other 2 in terms of vocal ability, never before has that mainstream star power quality of his been so clear. From vocal runs, melody, songwriting tendencies, you can tell he never really belonged in the band.

    or is it re-release day?

Pre-orders are up now for the English Oceans - Deluxe Edition which features the acclaimed most recent album plus the DVD of Black Ice Verite', our live performance of the album back in February when it snowed and the whole state shut down, except for us, because we're crazy. It also includes a bonus disc with 3 acoustic performances from the Bonnaroo Hay Bale Session and 5 tracks recorded at The Fabulous 40 Watt Club last Valentines Day Weekend.
For vinyl aficionados, we have Black Ice Verite' including the vinyl version of the Live 8 song collection and the DVD of the Live Performance.

listening to some shows, didn't know they let Isbell sing lead on Nine Bullets, sick

Anyways random thought: nevermind the songs about incest, kid-diddling, murdering people, and alcoholism, the one song that really bothers me is "Sounds Better In the Song". I don't know if it's because the character in the song is autobiographical but the whole "I feel sad because my girl is actually out living her own life instead of waiting around omg I'm on the road 24/7 isn't that enough for her" storyline really rubs me the wrong way. I know it's hard being in a touring band but I don't know what the speaker expected out of his wife, to share music dreams with him while she stays at home? I don't know. Musically one of Cooley's more beautiful ones, but it's the only DBT song that makes me roll my eyes.

    Wow, really?!

I like to see them getting exposure, but can't believe they'd open for a manufactured pop-country act like that. (I know Eric Church is playing this whole 'outlaw' angle, but it all seems very contrived to me.)

I saw Eric Church almost ten years ago in a rock club and that dude puts on a show. No idea what he is like now that he is Nashville country popular, but he has some talent. truckers obviously shouldn't hardly ever be an opener though,

I don't mind them being an opener, just surprised they'd do it for Eric Church - to me that's like them opening for Blake Shelton or Jason Aldean.

They were the opening act for Tom Petty's 2010 summer tour and that was a great match.

There is a huge difference between Church and these guys. Eric Church is actually on the fringe of the Nashville scene, while those two guys are practically running the operation. I can't remember if i've ever seen the Truckers open, and I don't think I have.

church plays it off that he's on the fringe and that he's an outlaw, but i don't buy into his whole image. his dad bankrolled his whole career and his wife is a big-shot nashville publisher. not blaming him for those things though

Listened to some Eric Church. Not impressed, but not completely disgusted either. They'll get one or two new fans and a pretty paycheck from this, can't complain too much.

This is a really interesting take on this tune. This was always one of Cooley's that I could never quite figure out exactly what it was about.
