Re: Are some costumes just too offensive?

If you are not offended by someone mocking a terrorist victim there is probably something wrong with you.

Sorry. Just not going to get offended by a Halloween costume.

I'm not saying it's not offensive, and I'm not saying others shouldn't be offended by it. Just saying it doesn't offend me personally.

I guess there's something wrong with me.

Think I'm going to be okay.

I'd be more worried if I was getting butthurt by costumes worn by dumb people I've never met.

Obviously they overreacted but if you are dumb enough to post that pic and not expect it then you probably deserve it. But chubs is also dumb enough to post nudes so whatever.

Without giving my full thoughts on the matter... I agree with this 100%. I've been offended before, and sure, I bitched about it back in the day when I didn't know how to deal with it... but never to the point where I openly threatened a person.

My sense of humour is as black as my lungs, but I'm never seriously going to attack you for making me feel uncomfortable.

Her twitter handle being "someSKANKinMI" is also pretty telling of her general character.

I'm not going to go as far to say that the reaction she got is what she deserved, but she's a dumbass for thinking something like that wouldn't backfire on her so I have zero sympathy for her. I have some for her parents, but that's as far as it goes.

As far as if I am actually offended by it or not, I'm not really sure. But it was certainly tasteless, and it was completely unfunny. Shocking costume =/= funny or clever.

It's ridiculous that people are getting in such a frenzy over the Julianne Hough thing. It would be like if cancer patients got pissed for someone shaving their head to dress up as Heisenberg.

That's exactly how I feel. They are just stupid for not realizing how pissed off people get about stuff. Julianne Hough was not offensive at all though and definitely doesn't merit anyone to get upset.

yeah going as black face is one thing. putting on makeup to go as a specific character is fine imo

Blackface has always been kind of taboo though in Hollywood though. Well, at least since like the 70's. If some random dude does it he's just an asshole but if a famous actress does it, she's pretty vapid if she doesn't realize there's gonna be backlash from it. Its kind of like saying nigger. Sure it doesn't hurt anyone but even used in a seemingly harmess way its the history of it that offends people.

Just reiterating my opinion that there's nothing wrong with putting on some makeup if you're going to a Halloween party as an African American character of some sort.

Not every black person dresses up as an African American character on Halloween, I'm sure one or two of them have lightened their skin for it. Why is that not considered offensive??
