The Reds are going to fuck the Marlins hard in the very first series of the season. No way Miami recovers after that.

Meso is going to get 100+ starts IMO and is someone who I'm excited to see play a lot. Votto only has MVP numbers if the Reds can find consistent protection for him.

    Avatar change in anticipation...

Short stop will be Zach Cozart. Played a handful of games last season before injury, but the organization seems to love him. CF will be Drew Stubbs. LF will be Chris Heisey and Ryan Ludwick. Methinks Heisey gets most of the starts finally.

Cubs might suck but we have some very interesting kids in the minors that I am excited to follow.

And see starlin Castro continue to do his damn thing.

See I see them having a 2008 cubs type season. They could win 40 against the pirates, cubs, and Astros. G

True I forgot they have so many easy wins on the schedule. Still they can win the division at 500

    85 wins might win it.

I think a lot of it depends on Jay Bruce and the starting rotation. I like the Mat Latos trade and I think our bullpen is going to be great. The Reds want Aroldis Chapman to start, but I'm not sure it happens. He's going to start the season in the minors as a SP to sort of test things, but the rotation might be good enough to the point where we may not have room for him.

As for Bruce, he was an All-Star last year and was productive, but he's streaky as hell. If he struggles for a month at a time, it's going to hurt big time.

Unless the Reds win a playoff series, it's over for Dusty. He and Jocketty already don't see eye-to-eye and this is his last year under contract, so I'd say he needs to win a lot if he wants another year.

If they are up any earlier than June that would be so dumb. No point in making them super two players.

But yea I can't wait to watch them. Our triple a team should be fun to follow.

I think St. Louis could honestly be right there. I'm not sure that Berkman repeats what he did last year though. Not at his age.

Reds have a sick pen. Marshall is one of the very best in the business in the pen. I would argue he is the best lefty reliever in baseball.

He's a pain in the ass. All the natural talent in the world, but he strikes out so damn much because he doesn't have the smarts to know when to make adjustments at the plate. He hit .349 last season when he put the ball into play. Problem is he struck out 200 times.

No fucking way he was such a weird fluky season. He was cooked the year before. I doubt he repeats that year.

Marshall and Madsen were great pick-ups. We didn't have room for Travis Wood, plus he's a fly ball pitcher, so GABP wasn't going to work for him. I love him though and I hope he's solid for you guys.

As for Madsen, he's certainly an upgrade over Cordero, and he'll be cheaper than CoCo was when he was here.

He kills the Reds in his career, so he could hit .200 this season but manage to hit .400 against us. Something about that guy...

I could see Berkman and Beltran on the DL a lot though. The Cardinals are really going to depend a lot on their rotation.

How much offseason work has Castro put into his defense?

Don't know. I think he hits 15-20 home runs 40 doubles 8-10 triples and steals 20+ bags.

If he can just have a little better footwork he will eventually contend for an MVP me thinks. Kid is that good with the bat. And so fucking young. Youngest player for most of last year too. (his second year) he is unreal.

This. Hopefully we've bolstered our offense enough to get some runs. Everything else is in place.

That's the only reason I don't have you guys in the playoffs at all. Some people may make comparisons to recent Phillies teams that were all pitching and a more or less league average offense, but I think that's viable in the NL regular season, and viable in the post season, but not in the AL regular season. I could be dead wrong on that, and you could win the division. But as of right now, with this looking like it may be a huge offensive year for the AL, all pitching and little offense may not be the best way to be set up.

Also, I love the new wild card system. The game itself isn't all that important (though it is cool to have two game 163s each year), but it means that you'll get more competitive games throughout September. You have to be way out in front in your division to feel comfortable trotting out your AAA lineup in September now, if you're competing.
