**Official Alpine Valley 2015 Thread**

Honestly, I can't imagine not going. If anything, it's a vacation with some pretty cool music, and pretty fun people.

Can't wait to be back at Alpine.

I'm so jealous SPAC got Bela. It would have been a great show regardless. I hope there was a taper because I didn't hear that DT. In my head, it's a beast.

Needless to say SPAC has officially set everyone up for appropriate expectations. Expect the LL's, expect Cant Stop, and expect Be Yourself. Going in just knowing that will allow me enjoy what should be some great highs amongst the sets well get- mainly Stone, Typical, maybe Seek Up? One thing I will say is they took one step in the right direction for me personally- mixing up when the LL's come out. That at least keeps it interesting. They honestly dont bother me on the songs but like most have said its just the song selection- i have zero problem with everyday, lbv, save me, granny, or bowa with them. Jus need to add jtr to that mix n hopefully avoid cant stop. Be Yourself is inevitable though. Those songs i listed wont ruin a set for me but dave needs to place them appropriately and not have so many duds in a row like last night. Also idk wtf is goin on with these encores but again this stuff is easily adjustable. Not even mentioning TD's or bust outs bcus thats where id be setting myself up for disappointment. Overall i got my expectations in check to not have my weekend ruined.

That's the way I look at it too. The 'highs' of the show still make every show worth it to me. If I was going into a show expecting near-perfect setlists like back in the day, I'd be leaving a lot of shows really disappointed.

I am just really hoping that the LL's are either at Deer Creek OR Alpine, and not both.

So....I just went to YouTube and listened to Be Yourself for the first time.....is it bad that I kind of liked it? The audio on the vid I watched wasn't great, so I really couldn't make out the lyrics at all, which I know are a big part of what people seem to hate about it. But I was bracing myself for something REALLY awful and didn't think it was that bad. Something that could be fun live in a 'Cornbread' type of way. Conversely I am listening now to a higher quality version of Virginia in the Rain now and liking it a lot more than I initially did. Objectively a much better song than Be Yourself, but also seems like it could be a bit boring in the live setting.

After tonight, I'm going to stop looking at sets. Even though I've been set-watching for the entire tour up to this point, I think avoiding them from now until Alpine will build up the excitement/surprise factor at least a little.

Per car, I have been charged at like 245 with a 3pm lot opening. I think it really depends how backed up things are, because there was one time they didn't charge us.

One time we showed up and parked in front of the gate at like 1pm and pulled the grill out, and the cops were driving back and forth yelling at people to get out. There were just lines of cars all over the country roads out there and they finally had to start letting cars in.

The stated charge is $20 per car, however as recently as 2012 I was in the lots just after 1 PM with no charge.

I've thought about doing that. The one I really don't want to see is DC. I'm not sure I can resist though, it's like crack.

has anybody done any research into realistic guests who could sit in for the weekend? i know bela, danny barnes, brandi carlile, and stanley jordan are off limits but warren haynes looks like he isn't touring during alpine. any others that would be more realistic? i can't imagine alpine not getting a guest.

edit: searched a few more and david ryan harris & mike mccready are two guests from recent years who don't appear to have conflicting tour schedules

I know Dave mentioned in the Rolling Stone article he wants Greg Allman to guest this year. I'd fully support it...Warren too!

Danny Barnes is a big No Go

Stanley Jordan was fun but once is enough for me.

Bela would be awesome but after hyping him up in advance for SPAC why would they have not do it for AV too? Guessing hes out.

I fully support Warren. I do not support the LL. Im guessing we will have to suffer through them for at least awhile during the wkend.

the ladies being mixed in this weekend was a HUGE difference, and made them much more tolerable. I dont have a problem with them in general, but I do have a problem with the predictability they brought to the end of the main set. This weekend's changes eliminated that completely. Keep it up boys!

This. So glad they mixed things up. I'm sure it makes a huge difference not being able to predict the next 5 songs with accuracy.

Danny Barnes is in Maryland and North Carolina during Alpine

Stanley Jordan is in Europe the entire month of July

Warren is Haynes is free that weekend

Oh and Bela has a tour date in New York on 7/25...I highly doubt he'd high tail it and fly to BFE Wisconsin to come guest with DMB for 1 show that Sunday.

Really hoping for Warren! Mayer would be cool as long as he was just playing guitar, but I think that'd be doubtful.

I'd be more than happy with no guests too. DMB is all I need.......
