Suspended or not, the 50 cent interview was hilarious. It made the drive from upstate NY to Boston this morning go by quite a bit faster.

I love Artie. The Pig story from when he was on Mad TV is by far the best.

That was some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard.

Re: Official Howard Stern Show discussion thread

If it's true that they literally got "suspended" for a day without pay, that's absurdity. I don't even know where to begin.

But Stern is without a doubt the best interviewer in mass media today. I can't tell you how many times he's had a guest in there that I have no care or interest about in what they do (today's 50 Cent being a perfect example) and yet he makes it an engaging and provoking interview of which I want to hear every second. 50 Cent was actually just in not too long ago and his time then was just as fun to listen to. And then of course there's people whom I like already - like James Woods last week or whenever it was - and that becomes an awesome bit of radio hands down.

As far as the repetitive "bitches" issue, I thought Baba Booey made a great point this morning (about which Tom just shuffled off, wrongly) that that flagship station there in NY plays those songs on their rotation that has stuff like saying "bitches" over and over again, and that's not an issue at all.

EDIT: gee, I'm glad I topped this thing this morning

OK, first let me say that Stern is a ratings genius.

But all his heming and hawing about the FCC and Infinity and Clear Channel is complete BS. He did the same thing in 2000 when he was 'announcing' his leaving the airwaves. He went as far as to cut bumpers counting down the days, and then by some miracle came to an agreement.

He won't leave now for one reason. Money.

Howard won't get paid out if he doesnt' complete his contract. And don't fall for the 'woe is me' crap, he got a 5 year $500 m contract from Sirius ($20 m more a year than his current contract). He'll stay as long as he can, and fight any 'suspension' (read: without pay) to the bitter end.

that's why it's so tough to listen to him now. All he does is bitch bitch bitch, when he's making a sound financial decision by going to Satellite.

I was basically raised on Howard from the time I was 16 until I was about 22. My dad got me into him and he was a huge fan. After a while I just got board with Howard and I think he has just past his prime. Even now that he is going to the doggie network he actually has to come up with some real content. Yeah he can say fuck or pussy, big deal, I think he is going to stuggle with coming up with some good content on a regular basis.

Now I'm a die hard O&A fan and I love my XM radio, like I said Howard at one time was the king, but now O&A are the cutting edge. Overall I listen to O&A as much as I did Howard and I laugh louder and longer listening to O&A than I ever did with Howard.

Got XM about 3 months ago and its definately great to hear O&A again, been fans of them since there mid 90's years in Boston.

I think O&A are more entertaining so thats why I picked XM over Sirius, plus I know a few people who got Sirius and they all hated it. I know made the right choice.

I have On Demand so I can just see Stern stuff on there.

I never really got into O&A when they were on terrestrial radio. It always seemed like they were trying too hard to be "shocking".

Part of me wonders if Howard isn't a little happy to get the suspension, as everyday lately something else brings him to the point of walking to walk off right then (& rightly so). But I haven't gotten set up with the Sirius system yet and want to as soon as I can, because I'm sorta afraid that prices may go crazy right before Christmas with the last minute people wanting to get ready for him. I know I just really wanna hear that 1st show over there, it's gonna be landmark.

I know Opie & Anthony were syndicated for at least part of the time in Philly that I lived in LA a few years ago, because I remember hearing some of their show when I was back on the east coast for a summer or Xmas visit. From what bit I heard I just couldn't get into it at all, I just didn't really find them the least bit funny (though I have a friend who was a big fan, & he's also a solid Howard fan, too).

Great to pass the time when you are sitting in traffic.

It is so offensive it's ridiculous.

So, in other words, yes. It's hysterical. For the Terry Schiavo jokes alone.

Whats interesting about O&A fans is that they feel the need to hate on Howard as(if I understand correctly) O&A constantly do on the air.

In the end, you know you are the inferior act when you constantly bring up the competition...

I deleted my post cause I didn't read the original post I quoted correctly but there's a whole story O&A told there 1st day at XM a year ago about how they were such big Howard fans until they signed with Infinity and the story basically is that O&A attended a press conference Howard was having for something and basically the story is that Howard found out they were there and sat in his limo until O&A were thrown out of the building the press conference was in.

They kinda compared trying to meet Howard to the scene in Private Parts when they try to introduce Howard to Imus and Imus shuts the door in the Howards face.

You can listen to the clip as well as a few others here: http://www.foundrymusic.com/myfoundr...earchtype=file (NOT WORK FRIENDLY!!)

Howard pissed me off so bad today, he's such a crybaby sometimes. They were all bitching because some of their stations are promoting his replacement, but not letting him promote his move to satellite. Hmm...I wonder why a business would want to self-promote as opposed to promoting their competitor. He also bitched about Infinity not "thanking" him for all his work there. How about the 30 million he makes per year? Sounds like "thanks" to me.
