holy shit Gravity was as far down as 4th??

    damn you, Matthew!!

edit: I can totally accept it if Her would win over that, but no way in hell should WOWS be higher than Gravity. maybe if it chopped off 45 minutes.

very curious... it makes the top 3, but not a single person chose it as their #1.

which, going by the academy rules, it wouldn't even have gotten a nomination, then, right? At least under the new current set up, a movie has to receive at least a certain number of number one votes overall to then get a Best Pic nom?

To qualify, yes. But that's not our qualification procedure. We do use a preferential balloting type system though like the Academy does to determine the final winner.

right, I hear ya. But I'll be very interested to see that for here on ants ballots, will WOWS be the only "top 5" film that didn't snag a single vote for #1 from anyone.

Re: ***Antsmarching.org’s Top Films of 2013***

So since it was so close I'll admit.

I voted but hadn't seen either Her or 12 Years. I voted:

    1. Inside Llewyn Davis
    2. The Wolf of Wall Street
    3. Gravity
    4. Nebraska
    5. Blue Jasmine
    6. The Spectacular Now
    7. Frances Ha
    8. American Hustle
    9. This is the End
    10. Dallas Buyers Club

After yesterday, I would have voted

    1. Inside Llewyn Davis
    2. 12 Years a Slave
    3. The Wolf of Wall Street
    4. Gravity
    5. Nebraska
    6. Blue Jasmine
    7. The Spectacular Now
    8. Frances Ha
    9. American Hustle
    10. This is the End

Okay I missed getting to see quite a few of these titles that wound up on many others top 10 lists, so I think it'll be pretty easy to see which of those I left out. Quicker doing that than me writing the list meself.

so jrod, just so I understand, the total amount of films you saw officially released in the calendar year of 2013 was 61, that's ALL of what you saw? because initially when I saw your list, I'm thinking how in the holy hell do you have Movie 43 on there, even if it is as far down as #61. But if that's just everything that you watched overall, well then if you're doing a ranking obviously SOMEthing has to be 61 on that list, so I can understand that. and it makes me fear for your soul a lot less.

Yes, the list I posted was a list of every 2013 movie I watched. Movie 43 was the worst film I saw so it was #61 of 61 total films. Granted, I knew it was shit going in, I just saw it was on Netflix and was bored so I decided to get hammered and watch it for the hell of it so bad
