two reasons:

some voters are stubborn. If they had someone else #1 to start the season, they're leaving them there until they lose.

Not looking forward to UF's game tonight, I still think we'll be going with 6 scholarship players and our top two scorers on the bench with injuries. I'd love it if a basketball season didn't begin with half the roster injured/ineligible/suspended.

I normally barely use my tickets during this part of the year but i havent missed a home game yet and hopefully can keep it that way. this has the potential to be the best team we have ever had. We havent even played our best yet and we're just absolutely embarrassing everyone we play besides Buffalo ()

Gator basketball gonna struggle badly this year. Drop off isn't as bad as it was when Horford, Noah, Brewer, and company left, but it's close. Can't throw a pea in the ocean and the defense is a mess.

damn florida sucks. on one hand, that's awesome, but on the other, the SEC needs them to be decent at least because most of the other teams are god-awful. and our revenge on them for last year won't be nearly as satisfying since they look like a high school team. we could very well go undefeated in the SEC and it will be the least impressive occasion of that in history.

north carolina is a work in progress. i think they'll be considerably better than they've been playing so far come conference play and march. i like paige a lot.

interested to see how we match up with Providence. I think that game will be closer than people think...they're better than UCLA IMO so i see it as our biggest test until the Texas and UNC games. I still think we win by 15 but i think it will be close in the first half if providence is shooting well.

He's been a disappointment, hasn't been coachable at all. Biding his time for the NBA, but if he keeps playing like this, nobody's going to draft him. Except the 76ers, maybe.

Also, in fairness, Florida is nowhere in the neighborhood of being 100% right now. Still doesn't mean we'll be world beaters when we get there, but will absolutely improve on what's been a disastrous start to the season.

i dont see murphy making a huge difference for them either when he comes back. i know they lost someone else for the season...who else are they missing that is going to come back? it looks like they are just gonna suck which like i said doesnt make me nearly as happy as it should.

DeVon Walker tore his ACL over the summer, so he's out for the year. He could have been a solid contributor, and if nothing else, an experienced body out there. Finney-Smith is playing with a broken left hand, and Eli Carter is still hobbled by a sprained foot. Not to mention we had a 7 footer that transferred from USF who they hoped could petition the NCAA for immediate eligibility because he transferred under some type of extreme circumstances (not sure exactly what), but the NCAA said no. Also Brandone Francis, who was a highly touted freshman, wasn't academically eligible for this season. Alex Murphy will add depth, and that's what we're desperate for right now.

Front court is paper thin and the back court can't make shots. Suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Edit: On a side note, Jon Horford has been a very pleasant surprise thus far.

Happy with our effort in the 2nd half tonight, pretty much played them toe to toe after starting off in a 0-12 hole. Not looking forward to our trip to Kansas in a week, but we gotta play it.
