I DO NOT want them to rework songs like Monkey Man etc. Not with Tim and his current style.

I hope that Lillywhite is producing the next album and it's released before Dec. 21, 2012.

I think it'd be pretty cool if they gave Monkey Man or Sweet Up and Down a shot.

But I would want mostly new material.

I don't like MM so they can leave that at the door IMO

IMO reworking old songs would be a fail because
    a) No Roi
    b) Overly agressive Tim and Carter
    c) DAVE'S VOICE and style of singing these days

Tim and Carter are the same people who in the studio, under the guidance of Lillywhite, played as subtly as they played on UTTAD.

I'm not at all worried about that.

I agree. There are old songs he could tackle that I'd have zero problem with. But if it's all new songs, that'd be just fine, because Lillywhite will make this a great ALBUM, so whatever he chooses to include he will make it all fit together into a cohesive whole. That excites me.

Caveat - if the rumors are true

Remember Busted Stuff or Raven or Ditch or Big Eyed Fish with Tim this year? We don't need his buzz on those songs. For me Lillywhite = return to old soft jazzy / eclectic DMB style, not the pseudo-rock / pop style.

I've actually thought a little about this.

I would agree that Steve will utilize subtlty in this album as no one has on a DMB album since he last produced the band, but I wouldn't expect that he'd approach a new DMB album in the same manner he approached the 3 (4) he's done previously. I expect this album to be pretty different than any before it. What will be the same is the quality.

Too much is different in the band, compositionally, and I would expect Lillywhite to bring out the best of the band in it's current state, and that jazzy \ eclectic sound may no longer be the way to go in his opinion.

You can't underestimate Roi's absence in the studio here. Jeff brings something different. I'm excited about what that may be. Move forward, not back. We don't need a rehash of the past, IMO. Just make it great, and having Lillywhite back is a huge step in the right direction.

Agree. Leave the past behind, no LWS. Bring back the old style. I'm confident that Lillywhite will get some quality lines out of Boyd and that, in my mind, is the biggest factor separating the Big 3 and post-2000 songs.

if boyd doesn't get more action on this album, he may split.

then we'd have to borrow zac brown's fiddler... he already knows all the songs anyway.

I love that were now calling the two most talented musicians in the band overly aggressive. That's great.

Re-recording Lillywhite Sessions would be ridiculous, don't know who suggested it but we've already got two studio versions of basically all of them and I know many people aren't overly fond of the BS versions, there'd be no reason at all for Steve or any of DMB to want to go back and re-record. In my mind, if Steve does go into production with them, it's gonna be post-2006 songs (IOY, Shotgun etc.) and new stuff.

If you don't like the Tim electric sound live, or think it's overpowering, it won't matter. Listen to Tim on studio DDTW. Perfect. Lillywhite knows how to mix and that's what matters.

Really? haha. Just pack up his things and leave? I think you are full of shit. Why would he leave one of the most successful bands ever? I honestly doubt he cares that much about being the center of the spot light. He still gets to bust out solos at shows and gets paid. He is not going to give up his career.

Are you serious? haha Are you BT's psychiatrist? How on earth would you be able to know? how would you even gather the assumption that he's miserable, Have you been to a show in the last year? Do you not see the big ass grin whenever he plays? Goodness.
