Talking about this song in another thread made me want to bump this. I really love this song. Beautiful lyrics that can be equated to humanity. Studio masterpiece. Careful build up in the live versions. People act like nothing happens during this song. But it's actually a nice showcase of dmb not doing too much. Rashawns mute trumpet is what makes it. He isn't going balls to the wall ala Typical during the very same show. Jeff is just adding the right touch and Tim is able to slowly build the solo and Carter knows exactly when to pick the tempo up.

This is 5 min of dmb doin work IMO from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HtZpEu32Z8&t=15m7s until about 20:10. If you're looking for a rhyme and reason type ripper, PM isn't it. But I have room to enjoy both songs at a show. There are plenty of slow snoozers that I can't stand (If Only for example) but PM isnt one of them for me. The one from Staples Center was very emotional and this one I came across is wow...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeBR...ature=youtu.be

This may be my favorite DMB song. I relate to the lyrics and I love the way it's structured live.

Gorge CD version is underrated pic IMO.

man I couldn't agree more with this. Proudest Monkey might be a top 5 favorite DMB song for me. it's just pure bliss. my favorite live performance is from Charlotte 2012 - Tim went to another stratosphere for his solo:

DMB just can't seem to figure out which songs to speed up and which ones to slow down these days Agreed, though.

I Love PM. 12 shows and I never seen PM. I would love to catch it one day. Carter is great on this song, the lyrics are great.

With that said, RR is better on this tune then he normally is, but this should be a Jeff solo instead.

7/23/02 is one of my favorite shorter versions... Added on the fly and Roi's solo is great.

So many standout released ones too - LT 5 is my favorite for the lyrics, DRH guest spot, and overall energy. LT15 has the best Tim solo with Mile High right behind it. Gorge 2002 has my favorite Roi solo.

Was this Bartender released on one of the WH discs or something? I've lost track but would like to hear it again.

Yeah, I think so, but I forget which one.

Looks like Live Trax 2008 if Ants is right.

Best post Roi PMs are Rothbury ‘08 and Alpine Valley ‘09.

The Alpine Show is the only PM where Jeff gets a solo and it’s his best tribute to Roi IMO.

12/30/95 - Roi is amazing on this one.

I was in the crowd for this one and there were mosh pits up front. People were getting smashed.
