Old Dirt Hill

What's the Ants consensus on Old Dirt Hill full band? I really like this song and would love to see it come back, specifically that ODH->Why I Am segue

I wouldn't mind seeing it a few times...There doesn't seem to be much interest full band though.

Last verse -> WIA is cool. Otherwise, keep it shelved. It's tolerable in a D&T setting though.

I love that version off of the WH disc... Would kill to hear it live. I would be mad if they played it early in the set either

A piece of advice...don't let the ants consensus ruin your enjoyment of a song.

(i hate this song, I don't know if this agrees with the consensus or not, the above statement was just a general piece of advice.)

When it was first played in 2005, I thought it was ok. However, like You Might Die Trying and Can't Stop, I now really like it when played by the Full Band.

its really amazing how improved the SU songs have become. not saying they're masterpieces, but the fact that they've become somewhat enjoyable and not complete set killers is quite incredible. Everybody Wake Up was actually fairly enjoyable this year once you block out the lyrics. i think we all would have laughed hysterically at the person who said in 2005 "guess what, in 2012, you're going to be enjoying these songs!" for what this band has done with these songs the last couple years, it makes me curious to see how good they can make Hunger 2.0.

i think tim is a big reason for that. a lot of those SU songs were soft rock/smooth jazz-sounding in 2005.

I love the song itself, especially D&T. Full band, not so much. I've gotten it once and it was cool but kind of a snoozer. I wouldn't mind hearing it once every 5-10 shows. I love the ODH > WIA on the recent Warehouse disc.

the only good ODHs were on the 2007 D+T tour. That outro is the only good part of that song, and I don't know when they stopped playing it. That being said, I'm kinda glad bits and pieces of that outro moved on to become the You and Me outro. It's very fun to play.

that was one of the coolest moments i've ever seen at a DMB show. i was on the floor, you could really feel the crowd die down when they started playing ODH. and then we all went absolutely nuts when WIA started.

just do not get the hate for this song. its a great tune, great hook, great nostalgic lyrics about being young and missing that youth. love it, one of my favorites. i think its one of the better produced songs on stand up but i still do not like how it sounds on that record. love it live though, anyway. ill take it all day every way.

it builds up to nothing IMO, it just.. drops off.. and leaves a lot to be desired, that's the issue with pretty much every stand up song.

To me, a full band ODH is unnecessary... there is really no room for anyone to shine and no real jams in the song... it is wonderful Dave and Tim, but this is one song I could leave on the liberation list for good...

that being said, I would be willing to bet that ODH gets the treatment that Bayou has gotten lately after the break since Dave loves stand up and he played ODH so much in 2008 once he "rediscovered it"... we could be dangerously close to having the stand up songs being played more than any of the other albums in terms of song spread
