not that coldblueice needs anyone to defend him but there were no assumptions there... just suggesting what COULD happen / wishes etc

there is nothing stopping them from making that album. they KNOW songs like Shotgun, Crazy Easy, and Idea of You are popular with the fanbase. people hold signs for Crazy Easy.

now, if they don't want to record Sugar Will because they have a new, better song that no one has heard of, i'm all for it. the more material, the better.

but jesus christ, Shotgun is one of the best things they've ever done. it'll be a crime if they don't make it official in the studio.

The best indicator of future behavior is relevant past behavior.

I thought Shotgun was recorded during the 2007 and/or Big Whiskey sessions?

More to the point there have been so many live releases and/or high quality tapes out there of Shotgun, Crazy Easy, IOY, and Sugar Will that at this point everyone has their favorite go to version.

If the Studio versions don't sound exactly like everybody's favorite live versions this site will be full of complaining. See: Hello Again; Joy Ride.

IF there is a new album, all new material please. Leave the "unreleased" live songs to the live trax, WH discs, taper pulls, etc.

Since when did Dave do anything because it was popular with the fanbase? Maybe a few very rare occasions?

I'd like to know how many signs have been made asking for semi-rare songs vs. how many of those songs have been played because of the sign. When fans ask for a song, it seems like it almost decreases our chances of him/them playing them.

Are you defending the way Hello Again sounds on Stand Up?

Because the complaints aren't about it not sounding like everyone's favorite version. They're about it sounding like like Batson'd shit.

No he's saying that those songs don't sound as good studio as live, rather than the complaining is unjustified.... from my reading

Not defending Hello Again or Joy Ride studio cuts. Quite the opposite.

This. Batson'd shit or what ever the reason was the studio cuts were subpar.

That crazy easy was on the printed set list IIRC

With that said I've had personal success with a blue water sign

I don't doubt that it happens. And would be difficult to quantify, as a lot of tour debuts may be from a sign the previous day or a few days before. Just saying that when a fan base collaborates and requests the same song at almost every show, like they did for Dodo last year, most bands would play it eventually on that tour. Dave seems to acknowledge fan requests far less than almost any other regularly touring band.

Dreamgirl in London this year. It was actually awesome, despite the guy screaming DREAMGIRRRRLLLLLLLL incessantly being a total knob.
